I thought the idea had some merit. Practice and fitness in match conditions. Can't beat that. Isn't there a week off anyway before that first match? He's got to develop the team's collective tank.

I reakon the AFL should arrange a Qld, SA, WA, NSW derby, all the Vic sides play each other, you play one more and if you want a third the clubs just arrange it themselves as the ammo's do.
