We have more problems than just the half back line I think Boon.

As a dummy forward.

You could potentially have Vickery and Schoenmakers in the same forward line or at either end if Schoenmakers has to play back. That would fill you with the upmost confidence wouldn't it CM?

Other than our forwards, backs and mid fielders, I think the Hawks will have a good season.

They are too good to produce a Freo type fall from grace, but I reckon they are in danger of missing the 8 this year.

Agree, only Ross Lyon can oversee a train wreck of those proportions. I see the Hawks as 5-8 material this season, so missing out on finals would not surprise. I see it more as a Geelong type "correction", happy if that's the case. For mine the Cats managed that admirably.

Birchall was also missing which compounded it further.

Tried to be a bit cute at times with our field kicking considering the conditions.

Port were certainly more committed in the second half, bit of preservation in some of our efforts I reckon.

Like to see a much more hungry/committed line up in rd 1, with maybe an appetite to lay a tackle or 2....

Was always a danger against the bombers 1st up with them playing on all that emotion from the past. They would have been building up for round 1 a lot longer than any one else.
I think v the crows this week in Melbourne will paint more of a picture how the hawkers are going.

A couple of really poor performances in a row. Having said that 12.19 aint winning squat.

Crows will demolish them, half their team are plodders and a side like the Crows will run them off their feet. Their defence looks a big concern, Gibson has probably gone on 1 year too many and Frawley is just ordinary so Jenkins and Tex will have a field day. Their ruck brigade got towelled up by Spud McKernan on his own so god help them against Jacobs. They have sold the farm for a very good kid coming back from 2 years off, a midfielder who racks them up but is a crab and Turnip Ty Vickery. They won't be playing finals this year

The only thing better than watching the Hawks lose to the Bombers was picking Essendon in my tips. Good to see Medical Room boy has been taking goalkicking tips from Isaac Smith. :D

In a 12 hour period I have read the Hawks are chasing Jake Lever, Steven May, Dustin Martin and Jake Johannison.

Must be a slow news day

JJ wants 700k. Good luck fitting that into your salary cap. Nope, it's back to being the bottom feeding scum they are. ;)

May is the man, since Lake went the big bloke with shit in him who can take the opposition key forward has been a huge issue. Frawley has been stumbling round like a drunken sperm and Gibbo will be in a wheelchair in 18 months. If he was free I'd try to pinch Rory Thompson, he's a beauty.
