AO are putting on most of their staff to cater for it. Bars open from about 12.30.
Official announcement coming soon.

Seems silly. They should have held it at the clubs home base where fans get togethe....actually, never mind.

So did the Chairman, take the land off the clubs hands and hand it over to some of his developer mates? ;)

They had to renovate it to accommodate Dangerfield's head, then Jenkins' head couldn't fit so they just said aaargh **** it!

http://www.afc.com.au/news/2017-10-01/the-one-stat-that-frustrated-pyke-the-most

Pyke said it was difficult to make moves from the coaching box when the Crows were getting smashed at the contest.

"One of the things that is very hard from a coaching viewpoint is to provide effort," Pyke said.

"The players are responsible for effort.

"We try and encourage that, we try and demand that.

"We tried to do some structural things, but you're trying to put a patch on what's a fair wound, and when you're talking minus 25 in the third quarter, which is why we value it as a stat, and in fairness, a stat we've been very good at all year, that's probably the most disappointing part.

"It's an area of our game that we felt coming in we were strong and we didn’t deliver today."

That is where it was lost. Too easily pushed off the ball in the contest. I know people will (Tredrea) criticize Don for this comment, but it was true.

But he confirmed midfielder Hugh Greenwood finished the game with a calf injury after he entered the Grand Final under a fitness cloud.

Was great in the first quarter but clearly a risk that didn't pay off

The Crows will now have to regroup to ensure they remain firmly in the premiership hunt and don't slip back down the ladder.

"We sit here now with a style that has got us to this point," Pyke said.

"Is that going to sustain us next year? I don't know.

"All I know as a coaching group is we have to ask those questions and have to follow our hunch around our list in terms of what we think is the best to play our best footy and to the way we play, because if we stand still, others will go past us."

I like the sound of this. We've been criticized for a few years now that the game style is not conducive to finals footy, even though this year it got us into a GF. But it was very evident yesterday that a high accuracy disposal game plan was not going to work with 22 of the opposition smashing into us

I thought Greenwood played OK. If he was under a fitness cloud it shows the Crows weren't willing to make the tough call by leaving him out and by not dropping a big for some more pace. Did they not rate Richmond's strength in that area?

Have a look at the vison of Luke Brown ripping into him late in the last for not running back to defend. Think Hugh might have some respect to regain from his teammates after declaring himself fit.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Had 7 touches and goal up to quarter time and was playing well. Like his other 21 mates went missing unfortunately.

Regardless of what a couple of B grade media personalities say, Pyke spoke the truth and was spot on. Pyke has been criticised for not having a plan B etc but as he said, if you’re not winning the footy it doesn’t matter what changes you make outside of the midfield. If he had come out and said it was all the coaches fault then he would have been slammed for not making the players accountable. Players and coaches can’t win into today’s media circus and that’s why all of them just say the media training lines. Unfortunately the players didn’t bring the effort required to win the footy, no issues with the coaching group making them accountable.

Trade week almost upon us.

Lever obviously gone, he might wait to after the B n F to announce but obviously isn’t going to come as a shock to anyone. If he goes to Melbourne it sounds like pick 10 and a pick in the 20’s most realistic scenario.

What do we need to bring in?

Someone to cover for Brodie Smith and an outside mid (Gibbs? who knows)

Been rumoured to have inquired about Motlop (no thanks)

Think we will be happy to part with a few draft picks this year for ready made players rather than go to the draft, hopefully Hamish and team have been working hard in there off season!

The notion of "Plan B" in football is very different today than it was decades ago. Teams spend the best part of 12 months honing the style they want to play, and whilst they might tinker with it, or plan for matchups etc that change on a regular basis, they're not going to stray too far from what they spend all year crafting, especially late in a season.

Speaking with an esteemed football brain this morning, and discussing the Crows lack of individual star power (ie, top 10 drat pick types), he reckons they should almost be planning to get their draft picks right for next years draft, and try to land either Rankine or Lukocious (sp?) if they can. Food for thought.

They looked very slow on the weekend (as all sides do when they're getting well beaten), but taking out Cameron and Smith doesn't help on that front, and as quality as he is, adding Gibbs wouldn't be the answer either.

Admittedly, all year Adelaide could cover that lack of pace with their speed of ball movement, but delivering that under the most intense pressure may or may not be something thats fixable.

Hawthorn were “slow” for years but their foot skills more than made up for it.

So although quick players would be good I think good kicks are more important for our game style

I agree with you mate, it's just a matter of whether you think this group will be able to do it under extreme pressure and in the spotlight. There's a lot of examples of Betts, Mackay, B Crouch, Douglas, Otten, Jenkins, Walker, Atkins, Knight etc., not being able to cut it at important times. (Im sure there's also examples of times they could). I have my doubts about them being able to avoid that downhill skier label, but as I said in another post, many said similar about Port of 99'-03' but they stayed the course and got there.
