Sad to see this happen, but it's inevitable when you're striving for the next level. Whatever we get for him, it will go toward getting Campo's boys the year after and that's the bigger picture we need to focus on.

I hope Zac can make it at the Roos - it's always difficult transitioning to a new club, so I really do hope Clarko can get the best out of him.

He has hopes of playing in the midfield but I can't see it myself. Even at North. He's just too slight. Is it a case of having greater aspirations than you're capable of?

We want to bring in 4 players and have 2 picks, something had to give.

There's about 12-15 untouchables at Alberton and he's not one of them but I'd say Zerk-Thatcher and something in the 3rd round for Duursma would be about right.

Yeah looks like Port have got this one right.

Best footy is real good, but continues to have a variety of significant contact injuries (I've mentioned a few times im not sure his body handles the physicality of the AFL, maybe that will change as he matures), throw in the fact his from Victoria as well.

The Duursma / Zerk Thatcher style trade looks a win/win for both clubs and players.

Adelaide, which was first in the queue for Clayton Oliver & as recently as last night felt a trade was in play, now believes he is staying at
@melbournefc

That was fun while it lasted.

Dear members,

I would like to address recent media speculation that the Melbourne Football Club is exploring a trade for Clayton Oliver.

Firstly, I would like to acknowledge that we understand the frustration among members and supporters when our players are discussed in the media as potential trade targets.

At no stage has the Club entered discussions with any club regarding a trade for Clayton. Furthermore, Clayton has not requested a trade and will remain at the Melbourne Football Club.

The Club has been aware of and supporting Clayton with his personal circumstances for some time and is committed to continuing to do so.

While Club leaders focus on the care and support Clayton needs, we also have a responsibility to uphold our strong Club culture for the benefit of all our players and staff. We have a responsibility to ensure that everyone within the Club is committed to meeting the expected behavioural standards of a player within an AFL high performance environment.

Clayton understands what is expected of him as a professional athlete, as well as the standards and behaviours a Melbourne person is expected to uphold.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge the exceptional efforts of our football department leaders. They continuously drive our high-performance culture, while also providing care and support for any individual who may struggle at times in the highly scrutinised and high pressure environment of the AFL.

We are fortunate to have such a caring and committed group of players, coaches and staff driving the standards and values our Club is built on.

We now ask for the football industry to respect Clayton’s privacy, whilst the Club and he continue to work through these challenges.

Gary Pert
Chief Executive Officer
Melbourne Football Club

Probably not far of the mark.

I think Melbourne would initially aim for a B+ / A Grader given they would consider themselves in a premiership window but the end result would be something pretty close to what you have suggested.

Given the length of Olivers contract that probably puts Melbourne in a strong position of power. Not like he is going to sit out the game for that length of time if Melbourne don't trade him.

Probably no truth to the trade but its fun watching my socials blow up with excited Crows fans.....it will keep the next few weeks interesting anyway.

You 2 are on some wild drugs. Wild I tell ya.

Sydney get James Jordan from Melbourne for end of round two compensation, currently pick 39.

Not a bad get. 22 year old premiership player.

Lots of talk about Taylor Adams.

Yeah, nah. Considering you're paying players that aren't even at the club.
