How could he not be sacked on the spot????
Public Service job and the incident must be investigated......

They'll have to investigate how it got to the media, whether it was him or a mate.

He took it and shared it to at least one other person, he needs to go immediately. If someone else sent it to the media then they go also.

No ones mentioned the person/s he stalked.
They’re the real victim in this.
Family member or not.

I agree its bullying of the highest order.

A good reason that you do not sack straight away is that it gives the employer (in this case the commissioner) certain powers (including sanctions) under the relevant code of conduct. If it goes to court, criminal sanctions, and there is an acquittal, new can of worms opens up.

2nd copper now identified and has also been stood down.

Still can’t understand how Laidley can fall so far from grace.... now if it had been Ross Lyon, that I get.

I doubt you'd see an acquittal when perp admits guilt?
But I get your point re employer sanction.

Thought I read somewhere its actually a criminal offence?

Why can fox sports and other media outlets publish footage of Ben Cousins being arrested continually and no one cares but photos of Laidley being arrested is somehow different?
Would it be different if it wasn’t a cop and a media outlet instead who released the photos?

Also the Ben Cousins drugs story and arrests are like mass shootings in America, it doesn't surprise you anymore as it is so frequent.

This is just a mess of a situation all round. Laidley is obviously on the gear and in a bad way and he has some serious charges to contend with which include stalking and threatening to kill.

Vic Police, as per any good public service they'll need to investigate, form a committee, have lots of meetings, reflect, use plenty of buzz words before the officers involved are sent to councilling and given a note for there file and stood down for 2 weeks whilst they are given free holidays to think about what they did.

The media will then start beating on about mental health now etc etc.

Of course it is at this stage, but if true they’re the real victim, not Dean.

Dean’s got some real problems to sort out but he’s no victim in this.

Spot on.
The copper will be reprimanded and given a holiday to freshen up for a couple of weeks.

The cop is going to go a row, he'll be used as a scapegoat.

I do wonder if the same would apply to Joe Bloggs if he took a photo of Laidley getting tossed into a paddy wagon.

Let's face it, what percentage of the public would take a snap if they had seen a prominent public figure in a similar circumstance? He made poor choices with his distribution.

It's apparently been a unspoken secret for a long time in the football circles.

Ross Lyon?? Like him or not the bloke has balls and great integrity IMO, his coaching ability isn't the greatest though it seems, has had a couple of red hot opportunities and stuffed them.

Ross said that, or are you referring to Ross Lyon??
