Yeah you'd think the fact the Phil Davis flinched about a second after he did it would have indicated there wasn't a lot in it.
Well done Phil.

I guess every palm strike to the chest in future is now worth a weekend off too?

Same as Viney. Once you make contact with the face in a deliberate action, you are gone. (Vince did not constitute contact in case you are arguing that point)

He definitely got him in the jaw first but jeez it's rough getting 2 weeks (plead out to 1) for that.

Reckon that should be 1 week down to a fine. So if you are a repeat offender you get done but if it's a once off a fine.

Really think they need to look at the punches in the gut though. Lynch, gray et al should really be getting a week for them

Agreed, the full blow palm strikes to the chest in the push and shove should be outed from the game too. If it was a punch it would be games/fine but an open palm seems to be all good.

Anyone who has done the smallest bit of martial arts, Wing Chun Kung fu in particular will know that a palm strike can be very destructive and, IMHO, it isn't a "good look" for the game or a good look for kids coming through thinking it's ok.

Will the umpire who was one metre away and didn't even deem it worth a free kick get reprimanded?

What a joke. Meanwhile Stevie J jumps on a bloke on the ground. Last year he got rubbed out for leaning his head into an opponent, now that he's no longer a Cat he's feel free to dive on blokes while the play is over and they are on the ground. They don't miss us.

They missed Selwood mate, his head high hit on Phil Davis was a lot worse than Hawkins.
I know who I'd rather rubbed out...
2017 safooty NFL tipping champ
2024 champ, Spargo’s Good Friday Cup @ Ascot

See I thought that was a hit on the shoulder with no head contact. Could be cyclopean Cat bias on my part though.

Hawkins suspension is laughable. Give him a fine and/or a warning and move on.

Who do you think will replace him? Do they bring Rhys Stanley back in or go with Nathan Vardy. Apparently Mitch Clark is a couple weeks off so he’s not available.
