It was part of the punishment that Ken had to keep coaching.

GINNIVAN
Young person made a comment about HW playing SS in 2 weeks time
BIG deal we live in a social media communication world

HINKLEY
Remarked after the game to the HW player/players
BIG deal he is allowed to its called freedom of speech

AFL
Fine Hinkley $20,000
AFL should concentrate more about a set of rules given to the umpires during this match
Rules which are at times hard for the umpires to get right
How many times in this match and other matches have players questioned umpiring decisions, without fines

Just my opinion

When Chris Scott responded to Lachie Neale in 2021 the AFL gave him a suspended fine and made it clear to all coaches that if anything similar happened in the future there would be consequences.

Didn't Clarko come down fron the the box and go over to call Webster a cock sucker and got a suspended $20k sentence as well?

Come on mate, the AFL pick and choose what they don't like and when they don't like it.

IF its a directive from 2021 , then that would explain the $20,000 fine
Thanks for the explanation

No, he got a $20k fine and a 2 game suspended sentence, worse than Hinkley's punishment.

You sure, I believe it was all suspended.

I'll have a look later and check.

North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson has been handed a $20,000 fine and suspended two-match ban until the end of the 2025 season by the AFL for his fiery exchange with St Kilda players

Just last week McCartney got physical with Papley and copped $20k. Hinkley stood 30m away and chirped and gets the same.

The AFL today confirmed the Port Adelaide Football Club has been sanctioned $20,000 for breaching AFL Rule 2.3(a) Conduct Unbecoming.

The sanction was determined after an AFL investigation into a post-game interaction between senior coach Ken Hinkley and a Hawthorn player following Friday night’s second semi-final at Adelaide Oval.

The club now considers the matter closed.

I note there's no mention of accepting the sanction, just that it considers the matter closed.

I guess $20K is the going rate for any sort of infringement, reminds me of Rebel Ford and their $400 back years ago, whatever I needed done it was always $400.

What Kenny done was wrong but hardly the beat up it deserved, a bit old school where we just say how we feel in person instead of tweeting it.

Will Jack wind his neck in? Probably not, do we want him to? No.

He's a smartarse but I love the guy, the game needs these types as we move more and more into a robotic world.

The whole air around Ginnivan suggests he couldn't give a shit about what Hinkley said and will probably have one in the barrel should we get rolled on Friday night, if he does good luck to him and play on.

I do find it amusing that the people complaining the most are Hodge, Mitchell and Brereton....
3 hawthorn people but usually very vocal and have done this sort of stuff multiple times

If I'm a team mate it's yes Jack pull your head in.
This games hard enough without extra pressure you put on the whole club with your disrespectful tweet ya twat!
Just let your footy do the talking from now on.
Don't give the oppo any ammo ever again.

It's who he is, you can't make someone change their personality. It wasn't harmful and he obviously had the confidence in his own abilities as well as his team mates to get the job done.

Most do just bop along and let actions speak louder than words, he ended up with egg on his face like he will plenty more times in his career, I didn't see him sooking when Kenny reminded him of his sillliness.

FWIW, I think his net value will soar once his playing days are over, he'll be everywhere.
