So question, brad scott has said Harvey is still playing at a high level, so why is he gone?

Yep the others, sure I get that. But Boomer is going ok.

Boomer is surprising, given they booted the other three.

They'll still have 6 players over 30 without these 4

Just watched Scott's presser, some interesting comments about form not being the deciding factor. With 3 of them, easy, with Boomer?

I'm thinking that Boomer was on a good wicket and they need the cap space. Wouldn't surprise me if they have agreed a deal with David Swallow on mega bucks or another big fish like O'Meara

He is Uncontracted for next year, surely he would sign up on close to minimum wage next year.

Cap space can't be the answer

GWS or the dogs would be good fits for a year.

Would they actually cost more on a minimum deal than a draftee? I seem to recall veterans got part of their contracts paid outside the cap. But either way, surely you wouldn't cut them on the basis of cap space, just list space. Makes a clear case that North just don't see a flag in the next 14 months.

Could work as a master stroke, players might play out of their skin for the retiring champions

Boomer surprises me. Scott should go before him. The bloke 4 days ago had 35 touches 3 goals in a losing side of blokes going nowhere. Yep obvious choice to delist.

F**k me Anderson stays Boomer goes?

thats the surprising thing - it doesnt really look like he is holding a young player out at the moment

Kingy was scathing on 360, and was right - how do you delist boomer when you still have guys like nahas and Ray playing significant games for you

PS still cant quote posts and get it to post

Boomer has posted a statement on his facebook page. Seems like he's forced the issue as he wanted to know where he stood.

Sheesh wouldn't want to be NM's list management team at the moment....

The other three were justified. Boomer...well no so much considering his form this year, esp. of late.
BUT imagine the reaction if he could not get up for next year if his age caught up with him...NM get enough stick about being so old and then you have a 39 yr old on the list to go along with the other 6 x 30+ players they still have.

Ultimately I think it was the best decision for the club, just handled shockingly.

The soft decision would have been to make this call after the last game, the hard but respectful way was to do it now.

People have been giving us stick all year about the age of our list, now we cut that significantly and still wrong?

its more the way they went about it.

Press release then a conference with the coach only and no players?

Compare to how swanny went out at collingwood...

You're assuming that this isn't what the players wanted. It seems pretty clear to me this decision was brought on by the players. The club didn't go up to the players because they wanted to make a statement as I understand. There's every possibility that the players didn't want to do a big press conference. The outcry seems less about what is right for the players and the club, and more about what the public want.
