If you finish top 4 you can't take free agents.

Yesterday the AFL said there will always be some form of FA compensation.
They believe there would be too much movement from poor sides to good ones so unless you have a provision where a top 4 side can’t sign a FA or similar the AFL need to be able to manipulate it

Geelong has announced James Rahilly will join the Cats as an assistant coach for the 2024 season.

I think Hurn or Rutten will replace him at Adelaide

Absolutely, I reckon you can return to your state but it must be open to all teams and highest bidder.

I mean you are still returning to your home to state. It's just the team losing the player gets fair compensation.
