Wasn't Brett Eddy considered by Port last year?

I don't get it. The give the arse to 2 forwards who have been at the club for a while to potentially bring in a 27 year old who has never been on an AFL list!

I reckon Port will be a little miffed that have to play a team who has the same colours as China in their China game.

How so? The two who we've moved on are Schulz and Butcher. Schulz ageing and wouldn't be sure of seeing out a season with his back and Butcher just not up to it. Eddy will cost nothing to have on the rookie list and who knows, might get a couple of decent seasons out of him.

Should have booted Butcher and had him on the rookie list this year, now he would be 12 months better off rather than starting afresh.

I watched the Port doco's last night, as I do some junior coaching I enjoy seeing how coaches motivate and manage players. I enjoyed the Aboriginal program doco with Krakouer, good story. The main doco on the 2016 season was a bit flat, but I guess you get used to watching these things leading up to a positive outcome. Ken doesn't seem to change much, going to be interesting to see how he handles the heat in 2017. I suspect not well.

Not really a hard equation, you would think 13 coaches are as safe as houses with probably 5 under pressure to deliver.

Buckley
Hinkley
Hardwick
Lyon
B.Scott

Lyon contracted to the end of 2020, take him off the list and also Scott is contracted to the end of 2018, we don't have the coin to pay him out.
The other 3 are the ones in the gun.

Hardwick by the length of John Holmes.

I think Buckley and Hardwick nose to nose. Collingwood miss the eight, then Bucks gone, probably the same for Hardwick.

Surely the same applies for Hinkley?

Richmond are talking up their trade period, if they start slowly then the pressure will be right on Hardwick

Depends if they get one long term injury or suspension, then its ok to blame that for the years performance

Hinkley will be given some leeway for 2016, suspension and injuries played a big part in our season.

A repeat of '16 in '17 and he'll be on borrowed time.

Buckley ( 53.5 win % ) has had 5 year with no return, 16,14,11,10,9 wins in his time. Hardwick (47.1 win %) is going into his 8th year with nothing more than a loss in 1st week of finals 3 times.

They've had longer, with more resources* for less return than Hinkley ( 54.8 win % ).

*Remember where Port was at when Hinkley took over.

Hinkley's immediate success at the helm probably done more harm than good for his tenure, he really needs a good 2017, finals is a must IMO, top 6 would be a pass mark.

Scott has had the Roos one win from the GF twice in the last 3 years, think there is some credits there.

He'll get two years to start the rebuild and then get moved on.
