Ashcroft looking likely to be in the mix for the top couple and being spoken about as the pick 1 favourite. Some talk awhile back that he wasn’t keen on moving up to QLD and wouldn’t nominate as F/S but I think if your options are Brisbane or North you are changing your tune and nominating.Armchair expert wrote:Bum Crack wrote:Next year's number 1 draft pick will be praying he doesn't get picked at number 1 right now.
Father son to Brisbane according to the draft freaks

They'll probably end up on the 1 win for the year and that over a West Coast side who had players getting issued guernseys on the ground before the game.

We just play dumb footy, we consistently played down the line to the skinny side and the Crows knew this and just put number exactly where we were kicking it, there was one farcical moment where Xerri took a mark across half back/wing and I saw hit opponent ROB waltz forward 55m as a loose and guess where Xerri kicked it? We did not look to spread the ground/switch the ball or change the angles at all, IMO we are just trying to stop the bleeding but Id rather lose by 100 taking the game on than what we are doing currently.
When you lack confidence everything else falls apart pretty quickly and that is what we are facing, its going to be a long road back sadly.
On a positive note Jacko Archer was fantastic, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Curtis Taylor has shown good growth and Paul Curtis looks a real find.

This is all a bit weird as the in one way out the other - "paint the fence" - D50 to F50 transition has been an AFL tactic for about 10 years along with the change the angles of ball movement transition. I refuse to believe Noble doesn't know these tactics given his footy smarts and involvement in previous programs.
My guess is he's trying to pair it right back to contested footy and build that foundation and than progress to the ball movement transition as part of the next stage of the clubs development.
the flip side is I refuse to believe the payers aren't aware of any of the above tactics, We were teaching the defensive spread tactic to the Glenelg FC U/18s in 2016

Of course Noble knows this and the players do also, its either they don't have the confidence to execute or he is instructing them to play skinny - both are his responsibility. last year we could see structure and strategy, this year we can't.
FWIW I think the Crows are tracking OK, there is a lot to like about them if they can make some adjustments to their midfield set up they will be tapping on the 8 in the next couple of years IMO, I think the local media have been way too hard on them this year
