I do like Rhys-Jones but feel his book comment about him "having no respect for South Australian footballers" is quite absurd given his '87 premiership captain and a few of his better teammates were SA boys and also given SA's record in state of origin through his playing career. I wish Mike had reminded him of that comment.

Cornes, as a few have mentioned, don't think there was many in SA that didn't know about that story and IMHO it calls into question the Crows decision to have him on their inaguaral list and Glenelg's decision to appoint him as coach in the late '90's (never mind the arrogance of thinking you could mix it up at SANFL standard without having done a preseason) given that what ended up happening there was probably inevitable and there were many other incidents in his time that the general public wouldn't know about.

Been watching a few replays of open mike on ch504,watched Glen Archer the other day,Mike asked him about Sydney Swans offering him in 1993 $450,000 over three years,at the time at North he was being paid $5,000 a year,he stated that he turned it down as he just wanted to stay with his mates and in his later years North rewarded him very well.Also said he was grateful to Pagan and the way the club had looked after him in the early years.
