In a stronger draft year, Port may have elected to rule out pick 30 for him, but apparently this draft pool is assessed by those in the know as not having thay much depth past pick 15/20..so its probably a reasonable gamble if Port can get him with their 2nd rounder.

Yeah i think polec's price is that 20-30 pick range. He is a ready made player and while he hasnt played a great deal, he isnt a spud thats for sure or an unknown which in the draft this year as you said after 20-25 your guessing in a way.

As for AFC saying the are still keen to secure him, im sure if Polec had major objections the interest would stop. Spose we will see what eventuates.

So draft day is tomorrow, who is your club going to get?

I reckon Aish will be the Bullies pick 4... plenty of SA boys over there and a crackin young midfield where he will step straight in...

1 - Boyd, 2 - Billings, 3 - Kelly, 4 - Aish

we'll see though.

Whisper Nuggety is that the dogs may make a last minute switch to Marcus Bontempelli- with Aish possibly slipping to 6.

The pies could quite possibly end up with both Aish and Scharenberg, and with Grundy and Kennedy on their list from last years draft, are building a healthy contingent of croweater talent!

Boyd and Kelly 1 & 2 for mine.

Port will look at Michael Appeness (200cm 98kg forward / ruckman) from Vic Metro, or possibly Trent Dumont.

Phantom Drafts having him going top 5.

Pick 2 for mine- 2 years at league level in the SANFL has him well placed to play regular AFL footy in 2014.

Dumont will end up a better player than Aish and will be a steal at around pick 9-15

I'm hoping Geelong can get him.

hmmm... last year we passed on Olly Wines to take Jake Stringer. ATM (i'll emphasise that) Olly has been far better. i do understand Jake has had injuries early but have a look at Olly, his body was ready to go. i have a feeling this may end up the same way. here's Aish who's played in the last two flags for Norwood (as a 16 and 17yr old). Surely he is more than ready to step up. i don't know much about this other lad but.......

we'll see very soon won't we.

You never know though mate- Stringer could prove to be a very handy pick up in the coming years once he gets his body right.

Yes Ollie had a great season in 2013 and im wrapt that port have him- drafts are a complete lottery and the WB have taken the gamble that Stringer could turn into a damaging forward in tandem with Jones, Crameri etc......

Extremely surprised that the dogs never made a bigger play for the number 1 pick- Boyd would have set you on the path back to the 8 far quicker than another outside mid will. Jones is improving, but isnt a high calibre forward sides need to make a tilt for the flag.

I guess every side will now bank on the giants being unable to fit Cameron, Patton and Boyd into the one side and 1 will have to give...

yeah i understand that it's way too early to tell with these lads and it's only 5+ years down the track you can see that taking Tambling over Franklin or McGregor over Pavlich etc etc etc was a good or bad decision. i just think Aish has had more high level senior exposure than most of the potential draftees.

RE pick 1, i can see both sides to the coin. as nice as it would have been to land it i think the price we would have had to pay would have been too detrimental. Griffin almost certainly would have been part of the deal and he's one of our premier midfield players that will lead all the young pups coming through. Our midfiled looks to be in good stead with a steady line of good young players and the backs are looking better too with Talia, Young and Johannisen coming along well. Forwards have always been our issue but now with Crameri coming across and Tom Campbell looks a good sort after his late season cameo with Spindleshanks Grant not having to be a focus and Jones now being able to take the 2nd/3rd defender it changes the landscape.

i'm excited for the bullies future, we'll push up to sit probably just outside the 8 next season but this is just the beginning!

Not necessarily squids- they have been keen on Kade Kolodjashnij for a long time.
