It's funny but most Port folks point to that or the Shrug on Burgoyne in the pre season comp when they discuss SPP. You can keep your stiff arm hero... :)

The don't argue is the most overrated thing in football

Ay?

It can be the difference between a holding the ball, a shitty uncontrolled scrubber release or a clean disposal to a team mate.

Yeah but that doesn't take into account the Z quotient when divided by the percentage of the algorithm determined by the current distance of the moon from the earth.

Don't think you can go purely off stats - those three all play different roles and positions which is clear by the large discrepancy over all fields.

I rate Burton highly, but I also think he should comfortably be above the rest - this is a guy who began playing regularly last year and injury is what cost him a finals spot.. he probably should've been nominated last year.

McGrath is a gun too.

I think any of those 3 are worthy winners.

Agree they've all been impressive and could go to any of those three.

**** that.

SPP's 2017 is streets ahead of both of them.

I know all 3 play completely different roles. What is SPP averaging for contested possies & clearances?

I guess you can match that up with metres gained / rebound 50's / intercept marks for Burton as a comparison for roles possibly?

A clanger comparison would be interesting too.

A whopping .5 of a difference between SPP and Burton for Clangers.

Considering 50% of SPPs disposals are contested that should actually be a much higher discrepancy.

I did that and the divisor didn't change the answer :?
