I do agree, but I think it's more he hasn't learnt how to control his mechanics and execute the skill yet. He has *amazing* lateral movement - with pace too, but this means he get's unbalanced very easily.amber_fluid wrote:morell wrote:Totally agree. Was always a better defender than forward. His closing speed is unreal. In my mind he could be an elite shutdown small defender with enough tools to rebound as well.Booney wrote:I think his best position is as a small running defender when it comes to the negating side of that role but his disposal can be below acceptable when he's at full tilt. Small defenders need to use the ball really well in today's game.
He's spent time as the pressure applying forward but, again, his disposal when kicking at goal can be unreliable at best.
I don't think he's ever had the midfield tank in him, certainly hasn't in the last 2 years.
If the game continues on trend and small forwards are the bee knees he would be a handy addition back there.
He has got the goods but his decision making though is very poor.

Andrew McLeod moved in a similar way, but he learned how to slow down, every so slightly, at the critical moment and get balanced before kicking.
So many times Impey wins a ball, evades one or two, gets into space and has time to settle, but fluffs it and kicks the wrong side of the ball or hits it on the wrong angle or floats his ball drop.
Has the tools, needs some maturity and real development 1on1 coaching to get it all together.

Brisbane have 18 and 19 (rocky)
Melbourne can send us their first rounder this year and next year and we will give back our second rounder to them.
Send pick 10 to Carlton for Gibbs.
We end up with Gibbs, 19, and Melbourne’s first rounder next year for lever and Cameron and a second rounder.
