Yes I certainly didn't subscribe to the opinions of the posters above. Not surprised by the result, especially after Simpson rolled his ankle. He is a key player for us and Lobbe had a top game for Port. I think we'll square it up at Cat Park.

Could have cost us a flag getting Freo to play on a ground that is very similar in dimensions to Pattersons. I reckon Freo have a bit more difficulty 'shutting down' the MCG.

You should know better, you watch Selwood every week.

Feels pressure, bends knees and rolls shoulders, causing high contact and getting the free kick. Do it enough, as he does, one of them is going to split you open at some stage. Why do Cats fans not see this?

With Joey Corey and Chapman having moved on last year, I'll be interested to see how they stagger the departures of Johnson, Enright, Bartel and Kelly.

All have at least 1 more year left in them, in reality probably 2 or 3, but presumably the heirarchy will ensure that they don't all go at the same time.

Re Johnson, the guy is a freak, has a bit of Daicos about him.

Varcoe must be a concern with his goalkicking at crucial times in games. Having Stokes, Christensen and Motlop, perhaps he could end up as trade bait.

varcoe is the one mentioned almost every year as trade bait, but he never leaves. agree with you though, he could...

Stevie J could still play for another few years. go back to being a permanent forward and he will kick you 50 goals a year. Similar to what ablett will do for GC in the coming years.

Geelong have done exceedingly well in blooding their youngsters over the past few years, though i still think they lack a young midfielder that has really taken the step up. Duncan possibly, and i guess christensen when he is back, but they seem to have a lot of half forward finisher types, and not many that do the real grunt work.

maybe Hunt and guthrie are those lads that will step up and be the inside mids.

Having the sub now will help in staggering the retirements as they come, and can stretch out the careers of a couple of the players bit longer.

Speaking of which (sorry it's off topic), is it possible that we may actually see a playing assistant coach in the future like a Giansiracusa?

Already have.

Chad, brogan and power were all assistants in some form at GWS.

I'm pretty sure jpod signed a contract to move into the crows coaching staff when he is finished playing too, in the conditioning area
