Boon do you think he just isn't good enough? Keen for your opinion.

Cameron grew up in Dartmoor, which is relatively close to Mt Gambier (on the Victorian side of the border).

Mixed thoughts. He's the player every club has had.

Burst onto the scene, kicked a handful a couple of times towards the end of 2012 ( 6 goals from 6 kicks against the Bulldogs ) and then spent much of the lead up to 2013 with a hip injury.

He never really got going last year, physically, and at times when I saw him ( playing for the Magpies and at training ) looked really pretty down. He's a laconic figure at the best of times, but he looked like a bloke who was really struggling to get his body right and was battling with the mental side of that.

As 2013 closed he was getting regular game time at SANFL level, completed a pretty well full pre-season leading into 2014 and really had his opportunity come knocking when Schulz missed some of the pre-season this year. Never took it.

Is he good enough? I did think he was, now I'm not so sure. I was happy to give him the benefit of doubt while his body wasn't right, but since mid-2013 he seems to have had some continuity and hasn't been able to even rip Glenelg apart at SANFL level. He's in a team two games clear on top, plays inside the F50 and can't manage to dominate a game. 30 goals in 12 games isn't a poor return, but his average disposal count would be low.

He can mark the ball, but he can also completely misjudge the flight when he's not on song. His kicking is well documented and really needs to have improved more in his time on an AFL list than it has.

He's tall enough to do ruck chop out duties (197cm) but doesn't seem to be capable of doing so.

He's an interesting case as Port have been able to develop plenty of players in the last 3-4 years, but not him.

So is he good enough? I don't think so. His body now seems to be right, if his head space is also right he really needs to start taking the SANFL by the scruff of the neck and demand AFL selection.

That sums it up nicely I think.

We all need to understand that not every player can burst onto the scene like a Jeremy Cameron, Chad Wingard, Ollie Wines. Especially the big blokes- they are the ones that take developing.

What you look for, however, is progression. Butch if anything has exhibited regression.

Personally- whilst Butcher has any value on him, port need to look to move him on and take the pick and run.

We have 2 young forwards worth looking at in Shaw and Harvey. Id expect Shaw to make his debut next season.

Are Port in the premiership window enough to warrant trading for an established forward? probably not- therefore we will see Hinkley continue to develop Shaw and Harvey in the hope they will both become 1/2 targets when Schulz gives it away.

Butcher is honestly like Shaun McKernan.

does one brilliant thing that makes you think he will be the next carey, then you spend the other 95% of the time wondering why he cant do it more often.

Both will be delisted at the end of the year, and i dont think they will find another spot. I think Butcher has a higher chance of finding another club than mckernan though, given he was shopped around last year and there was no interest.

No doubt. Got zero tall options up forward which is appalling drafting by the Lions.
Got some great mids coming through, but need someone up there.

Would Brisbane look at Vickery in all seriousness?

I think a pick between 20-30 & re arranging of bottom end draft picks would be a good win for each club.

they could do worse. if they could get him for cheap it would be worth it.

He isnt going anywhere

yes, his contract runs out 2016.....

He'll be in our starting 18 next year... Gun

But if Carlton offer him big $$$ and a longer term, and he accepts the deal Swans have negotiate or risk losing him in the PSD. Carlton will have a pick before the Swans and the majority of the clubs.

I mean there is a family of history of leaving the Swans for Carlton for money...

Does that mean young Tommy will spend a year at Collingwood first?

Tried that with McGuane last year. Both are too up and down. For McGuane it's been mostly down.
Wouldn't surprise me though. Leppa would've coached him at some stage.

Hopefully they give up pick 1 or 2 for a gun.

Vickery is better than McGuane though!

GWS recruited another key fwd at pick 14 in last years draft a McCarthy or something from WA, I know he is untired but surely clubs should chase him & offer him a chance. Will be a long time before he gets a game there behind the big 3 young fwds.

There would be one we would certainly trade for crouch haha.

Highly doubt he comes to the crows but I'm sure we will he trying. Apparently we still have a bit of cash there that was going to Tippett, but I guess we will still need to save for keeping danger next year

It will be intesting to see how this plays out with Cameron. I would have thought Port might go hard at getting him, but the cost will be large. The GWS want teams to trade with them, but they have a funny way of showing it. They will want nothing less than gold.

Also I still think the Vic teams are in the prime position for his services.
