I too thought Port copped some rough one's in the 2nd half, maybe the Cats did in the 1st I can't remember .. Wouldn't have mattered I don't think because Geelong were just that little bit better.

In the 3rd quarter when the ball was coming in incessantly, thought Port really lacked the experienced player at the back to mark and slow the play down rather than spoil and chase lethal Blue and White guernseys on the ground.

That will come with further development though. I was big on the thought pre-season that Port would really improve this year, but I didn't expect it to be by that much. Fantastic year has seen them go from a rabble to playing one of the most dangerous and entertaining brands of footy in the comp. Massive respect!

No. You'll have to wait till at least the end of my lifetime.

I've had a memory block - can someone remind me what happened in the 2007 GF? ;)

I think Port failed to turn up because they were still celebrating 2004... ;)

Well done to Kenny Hinkley on winning the admiration of his coaching peers by taking out the AFL Coaches Association Coach of the Year Award.

From Gary Ablett to Andrew Mackie to Cameron Mooney, everyone speaks of Hinkley in glowing terms. No doubt the support of Richardson has been invaluable, but Ken has certainly set some standards at Alberton that the players embraced and reaped the rewards from.

Great job Ken.

Used to love him as a player. The Cat defence was a bit of a worry in the Blight era but Hinkley was a real gun. An attacking defender that was way ahead of his time. Right up there with Buddha, Toby, Couchy and Stoneham as the tier of players under Gaz during the era.

Can coach too. Even that hack Westhoff is gunning it.

REB

Yes and on 5AA the world is ending and Trigg is really dissapointed, but I didnt think it was going to matter that much. I mean Both SA teams are playing there there day/night.

Might be just me.

I can't see either Showdown not selling out in the first year anyway so it doesn't really matter who hosts the first one

That cheating **** should take whatever scraps are sent his way and be grateful he is still involved at any level.

It was pretty comical how they were saying how many Crows members would miss out because it would be full of Ports members. What about how many Port members would miss out if it was a Crows game?

The Crows finished lower than Port, and lost both of the 2013 Showdowns, and they have cheated in the last few seasons.

They deserve nothing. And the way Port have gone about things in the last 18 months, they should be rewarded.

My sentiments exactly. The AFL made it very clear to us at the beginning of last season that on-field performances would dictate better timeslots and better coverage- the club has put in enormous effort over the last 12-18 months to improve and have rightfully been rewarded.

In saying that the AFL is right when saying Port are likely to generate a larger crowd hosting the first showdown, when Adelaide is a buzz with the first game at a new stadium, rather than hosting the return leg when the novelty has set in.

I'm happy to accept that, you would know what charity is all about. A very charitable draw got you to a prelim in 2012.
