Certainly not a classic on saturday night... But i'd rather win ugly then loss pretty... Just did enough... Hannebery and Jack were very good. Work rate is phenomenal. Great to see Goodes again, and looks like he hasn't missed a beat. Champion...

Massive round this week for us against Brisbane, we must win and go into the Hawks game 4-3...

Having met you id suggest you don't really have a choice in the winning ugly stakes ;)

Sydney still in my top 4 for the business end.

From the afl web site

"The driver of the Jeep was a 27-year-old Bondi man and he was not injured in the crash.

"He underwent a roadside breath test that was negative.

no mention of a drugs test though ... just saying

if he had a positive test for drugs it would certainly have been reported. much different if the police are conducting it compared with a drug tester whose main role is to test them for performance enhancing drugs

people say it every year, but this really is shaping up as one of the most even seasons in years, especially now that GC are up and about. And it seems that the other standouts from the last few years (geelong, sydney, freo) have come back to the pack a bit. probably means getting that top 4 spot is more important than ever

Freo is the time I don't want my mob playing. Sydney would be my first choice.

LMAO we've improved. We've actually got Ruckmen this year. 5-1 is hardly coming back to the pack.

I still dont think they have an aura of invincibility about them like they used to. And of course you are still going well in terms of win-loss, but in the last few years hawthorn geelong sydney and freo have been clearly the standout teams, but i think this year that gap has closed. I think hawthorn are clearly the best team but port, north melb and maybe even collingwood have joined that next bracket of teams i think.

I don't think the Cats have had an aura of invincibility about them for several years. This 'aura' is a perception as is my perception of how well we are moving the ball. As for Collingwood bridging the gap we beat them for the first time since 2011 the other week. North have troubled us in the last couple of seasons. If you are judging where Geelong are at based on last week's capituation you have a point but one match does not make a season.

For a side to maintain, say a top four spot they need to continually improve just to maintain their position. Two years ago we got rolled in the first week of the finals so a possible back to back top four is hardly coming back to the pack. Were we coming back to the pack last Tuesday? For me coming back to the pack would see us at seventh to tenth on the ladder and we haven't done that.

fair enough, good post. i guess i just mean there has been a gap from the top 4 to the rest in the past few years, seems to be less now.

Tippett and Franklin should return this week... Pyke looks like he won't make it... Massive out :(

But with Tippett back in, he could shoulder some of the work to help Derickx. He goes alright...

Massive game... Not happy it's at ANZ though...

This will be interesting. Tippett and Buddy out the means goodes is free to roam. The Hawks have been caught out when a big forward gets going although thats only happened once this year.

The hawks can cover this with there dominant midfield so this will be interesting if Buddy or Tippett get going.

If goodes is fit, having him and buddy running as high half forwards is going to create a ton of problems
