Yes, that did dawn on me haha. I just dont see why two individuals warrant elevation over the other 20. Anyway, wont be losing sleep over it.

Very tight call Ryder/Jacobs/Kruse

Absolutely but only one could make it.
I thought Kruezer would make it but Ryder has been very good and he deserves the AA selection.

I would of had Kennedy In the starting 18 ( and Capt) and no Selwood. Rance skipper please, Thought Howe was stiff would have had him before Hibberd. Thought crouch deserved his spot, stiff was sauce but Ryder has been outstanding all year and deserved his spot. Loved Zorko being named kid is a Jet.

I didn't have Merrett or Shiel in my side, had JP Kennedy and Scully instead. Bold were as they were named.

How JP didn't make the side I don't know, he had to be picked ahead of Selwood who clearly gets the nod on his record ahead of his form this season, Duncan might have been a better selection than him too. Still think Rampe very hard done by, I'd have him ahead of Yeo.

Pipped by :

(Goals)
Sandilands in '14 (8)
Goldstein in '15 (10)
Gawn in '16 (16)
Ryder in '17 (11)

Whilst it's difficult to just say who pipped him without looking across each season at the performance of each player it's fair to say he's been up against (as with the other ruckman) some pretty outstanding big men in the last 4 or 5 years.

What might count againts Jacobs is, in an odd twist, his consistency. He's just rock solid every week and bar the Showdown's in recent times is there many matches throughout the year where he stands out head and shoulders above his direct opponent? He's rarely beaten but I think he very rarely dominates his opponent as the others above have done. That fair?

In the last 4 years he's kicked 7,4,8 and 8 goals.

You forgot Natinui AND Cox in 2012 when he was better than both of them that year...

I agree with your assessment. Almost a case of "the squeaky wheel gets the grease". He is a very unassuming player outside of the walls of AFC.

Correct, Port would struggle without Paddy, but aren't the Crows in the same position with Jacobs. How would they go if he went down in the first quarter? Josh Jenkins?

Essendon supporters can't help but wonder how we would be travelling if the first 2 mentioned were still at the club.
