When the opportunity presents itself to acquire 2 high quality KPP's in Ryder and Dixon, you do so without blinking an eyelid. No Port supporter in their right mind should object to the club doing these trades.

We had 2 lean years in 2011 and 2012 where we netted top end talent in Wingard and Wines, and last year we strategically traded to have 4 picks inside the first 2 rounds.

This year we have made a specific play for RFA's to fill some gaps in our list, and will hold a first round pick at next years draft.

I don't have too many criticisms over what our list management team has done this decade.

My concerns are not the young talent being injected into the side, it's their development. As a club, I feel as though our players stagnate a bit.

Will only be able to make a sounds call on all this in 3-5 years time IMO.

But what does the benefit of hindsight have to do with making in the moment decisions concerning the trading/drafting of picks and players?

As I said, at the time, these trades should be done without hesitation. Especially Ryder given where we finished in 2014.

I agree with what you are saying, perhaps the club is bringing in these players as they do see issues with the development of players? When was the last tall forward the Power developed themselves? Probably Tredrea?

I think every club would take Ryder and Dixon if the opportunity arose.

Had Butcher and Lobbe worked out as we had hoped, the need for Ryder and Dixon becomes non existent.

Failed selections, lack of development. There are arguments for both.

Yes, but once again, at the time of drafting him we were crying out for a replacement for Tredrea and he was the best Key Forward by some way in his draft group. There would have been more of an outcry if we didn't draft him,

Lobbe was only good when he had a Westies connection. Did little at the Magpies, was sent to West where he developed into a good ruckman

Was looked at to go even higher wasn't he? Port was suprised when he was still available?

Was touted as a potential #1 pick. Back complaints derailed his Under 18's year IIRC, hence the slide.

Impey to the hawks for effectively two second rounders.

Reckon that’s a win for the power

Either our current 2nd rounder or Pick 33 from Hawthorn to end up at Melbourne for Watts

For the first time in yonks I've got a bad feeling about Port letting a player go.

I am inclined to agree.

With Jars gone and White just about finished, we look really slow on the outside. Makes the potential acquisition of Motlop vitally important, IMO.

Don't know what to think of this trade to be honest. Will depend if Hawthorn get Impey at full potential or Impey at current output.

I hope he leaves the Cats. But he isnt someone you pay 'Overs' to bring in.
Anything above $500k is throwing money away...

Educated sources suggest Port are $500k a year, Crows $600k 1st year and $500k the next 2. The Suns offer is more than both Adelaide clubs.
