I know they take on the $, but this deal makes a mockery of the AFL. At the very least if they take the $ on, it needs to be as per the old contract, not allowed to spread it out.

Agree.......

Somewhat surprised the Players Association allow it to happen, the bloke has had to take a 50% paycut despite having a valid contract with the GC.

If a player agrees to change their contract then they should be able to, but the premier getting a top 10 pick ( Bowes in 2016 was pick 10 ) and pick 7 to aid a salary cap dump isn't a good look for the comp.

That is an odd number, I think we would have delisted him this year.

Why would Gold Coast give pick 7 with Bowes, they have a plethora of picks dont they? Surely that same deal gets done with one of their later 20-30ish picks. Or even no pick at all - Bowes for Future 3rd seems like a reasonable deal! The system isnt broken, its smashed!

There have been some shocking trades this year and it definitely seems it is now too easy for players to get to whatever club they like at the expense of a fair and even league.

Geelong being able to rework his contract shouldn't have been allowed but I guess Ned Guy thinks it is a fair trade, probably explains the mess he left at Collingwood.

It wasn't just Ned Guy that got us in this shitty place. In his defence he did inherit some problems.
Personally I'm going reach every time I see Grundy in red and ****ing blue.
Watching Treloar kill us does my head in.

Putting a lot of faith in Cameron and Cox.

So Collingwood pay around 550k a year for 2 players not on their list. I heard this comes out of the soft cap which is another rort if true, it should come out the playing cap to deter ridiculous contracts. Loose change for clubs like Collingwood.
Whoops, there goes another year. Whoops, there goes another pint of beer.
