It's a lottery anyway, many kids never meet expectations.

Yeah I'd guess they think they can get someone good at 35 given you'd like to think 14 is going to be close enough to 10.

Whereas once you drift out to 47 it's much more of a lottery.

35 is no certainty either but they might have someone specific in mind they think will be available at 35 but not at 47.

Interesting trade period for the doggies. Im pretty happy with the outcome, definately looking towards long term

In:
Boyd
Biggs
27, 39, 46

Out:
Griffin
Cooney
Higgins
Jones
6, 37

So going into the draft we will have picks 26, 27, 39, 45, 46, 64, 82, 100, 118.

No first rounders but 3x 2nd rounders... i hope the draft is as even as what they say and we can pick a few gems...

All those that went out wanted out so thats a good result.

cooney is 29 with shot knees, jones has shown nothing for a long time. Griffin is the biggest loss but again he wanted to go so cant hold him back.

I wonder if they offered a second round pick and had that knocked back before they offered pick 6.

Boyd is a massive signing for us and biggs will go alright. Trading for the future

Just watched a reply of Ryan Griffen's media conference at the Giants ... accounted for himself very well.

Actually agree with you, but I think you've omitted the biggest downside which is the cap space the Dogs have committed, not just for Boyd but also Cooney and Griffen. You'd want to make your mark as a club in the next two years or those onball young guns will be ripe for the picking.

Yeah, it depends on how they structure the payments and when the contracts of those young blokes expire. I 3xpect some juggling over the next few years...
