Will go down as THE super draft I reckon.

Probably only Jones that hasn't had some impact at AFL level while the top 7 are all looking as though they are elite.

1 Sam Walsh
2 Jack Lukosius
3 Izak Rankine
4 Max King
5 Connor Rozee
6 Ben King
7 Bailey Smith
8 Tarryn Thomas
9 Chayce Jones
10 Nick Blakey

Who would everyone take now as pick 1 having watched a few of the lads go round?

Be hard to pass up either of the King boys being in your fwd 50 for next 10 years I'd think.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

I'd still have Walsh, but wouldn't have Lukosius at 2 or Rankine 3 - bit further down.

Ben King and Rozee higher.

Very hard to pick, one thing I know is I wouldn't be taking Walsh.

K Cornes copped it a few weeks back for saying that Walsh wouldn't be his number 1 now and Carlton made a mistake taking him, I know he wouldn't be mine with what we've seen from the others behind him.

Rankine would almost be #1 IMO.

I reckon we will be having this conversation every year for the next 10 years though

Walsh was the safe pick not necessarily the best pick which I can understand why Carlton took him. His kicking is quite suspect but he will still carve out a pretty good career

Absolutely he will, he already has, but I can see what Cornes was saying though, the field behind him has some genuine star power compared to what he will be.

Its a draft like this that will see someone trade the No.1 pick one day for say pick 5 & 8.

Absolutely due to the top 10 being full of stars. Imagine landing say Rozee and Thomas instead of just Walsh. Still Walsh will be a very good player, from what I have seen the King boys have to be up there in the top 3. Genuine once in a generation type of forwards......and there's 2 of them.

For sure so many variables involved for each draft. Probably a safer bet to get a key FWD & a good midfielder for those picks than having to take a punt on just one up the top.

With 2018 I think the Doggies got lucky as there was lots of talk Smith didn't want to leave VIC. He was regraded the most professional of all draftees & as the Saints needed a key fwd they took King. Therefore Smith falls into Bullies lap at 7 as the rest of the picks were clubs 'interstate" above them after Walsh.

He apparently was the one with the letter from a health professional about being drafted interstate.

Unfortunately was always on the cards having missed so much football. The positive is his groin has been fine and he was progressing well and maybe only a month away from playing.
Only a slight nick so hopefully within 6 weeks he is playing trial games

Yes and no, will have to wait and see how it pans out this year. Only the Essendon and Sydney people involved in talks will no where the truth sits

Should have taken the offer and run, then Sydney would be paying two big left footers to go to the physio.
