Is it still Safe to assume port will be back to mid-table mediocrity in year 151 ??

Yeah sadly I agree

Over the next five years the likes of Rozee and Byrne Jones are only going to get better.

They are pretty well balanced team and have a well balanced list of A Grade talent, young guns and good role players.

I got to admit I enjoy watching clubs have success when they stick with a coach, I strongly believe that too many clubs don’t have faith in their hiring and too quick to jump on coaches. I love the Hardwick and Thompson examples

Port should give it a shake again especially with a young team and only being a touch of luck away from a GF this year.
Mind you this was the year the interstate teams had a huge leg up and if there is some sort of normality next year it wouldn't suprise me to see some slip with the exception of the Crows!

It will only take a long term injury to Dixon and Port will miss the 8. No Westhoff for backup to plug any holes. Not sure they can cover for a loss of Dixon.
Very good chance of happening, he doesnt have the best history

Agree, Dixon's body won't hold up 2 years in a row. Probably help them long term though, not next year but longer in that Marshal and Geirgeiadis would play together.

They do have a good crop of talent to come through and have and seem to be retiring players gradually.

The challenge for Ken will be to have 2 good years in a row, doesn't have the best history in that regard

Prelim in 2014 then down the gurgler after that .

Might take them a few years to recover like last time.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

You're right, he only played every game in 2017, missed the last two games of 2018 when he compound fractured his ankle before returning in round 14 of 2019 and has missed one game since. Yeah, you've got no idea.

Doesnt change the fact that if you were to lose him for an extended period its the one position you dont have cover for, especially with Westhoff retiriing

Is the DBJ win a big surprise?

Gone from a very much maligned player to a Best and Fairest winner, well done to him.

Not really. Boak would have been the favourite to win in the eyes of many, but Darcy's season was unbelievably consistent and he has developed into one of our most important players.

Has certainly improved out of sight over the past 2-3 seasons. Boon's call of captain in waiting is on the money.

Top 3 were probably right but in wrong order
Surprised to see Dixon 9th seeing how highly regarded by Port people (maybe not the coaching staff though)
McKenzie 5th was also surprising, i dont rate him at all but had an ok year.

It's the voting system that either elevates or depreciates a players votes, you can have 3 possessions and get a 3 if your opposing forward had zero impact, who knows if it's flawed or not, it does assist defenders though more than the standard 3,2,1 system.

Were the Port Adelaide Year 2020 players any better than the Port Year 1970 players who endured the PAFC Centenary Year?

Port 1970 were minor premiers of the competition they played in - just like the Port 2020 squad.
Port 1970 didn't make it to the Grand Final - just like the Port 2020 squad.
Port 1970 lost their Preliminary Final to opposition wearing the colours of yellow and black - just like the Port 2020 squad.
Port 1970 in that Preliminary Final had the lead during the last quarter - just like the Port 2020 squad.
Port 1970 fans at the Preliminary Final complained bitterly about the umpiring - just like the Port 2020 fans.
Port 1970 supplied the player who finished 2nd in the Medal Count for the best player in the competition they played in - just like Port 2020 did.

So there's enough proof to support the old saying - "The more things change, the more they are the same..."
