Agree, Dixon's body won't hold up 2 years in a row. Probably help them long term though, not next year but longer in that Marshal and Geirgeiadis would play together.daysofourlives wrote:Jim05 wrote:Can’t see them sliding much at all. It will only take a long term injury to Dixon and Port will miss the 8. No Westhoff for backup to plug any holes. Not sure they can cover for a loss of Dixon.
Very good chance of happening, he doesnt have the best history

They do have a good crop of talent to come through and have and seem to be retiring players gradually.

Surprised to see Dixon 9th seeing how highly regarded by Port people (maybe not the coaching staff though)
McKenzie 5th was also surprising, i dont rate him at all but had an ok year.

Port 1970 were minor premiers of the competition they played in - just like the Port 2020 squad.
Port 1970 didn't make it to the Grand Final - just like the Port 2020 squad.
Port 1970 lost their Preliminary Final to opposition wearing the colours of yellow and black - just like the Port 2020 squad.
Port 1970 in that Preliminary Final had the lead during the last quarter - just like the Port 2020 squad.
Port 1970 fans at the Preliminary Final complained bitterly about the umpiring - just like the Port 2020 fans.
Port 1970 supplied the player who finished 2nd in the Medal Count for the best player in the competition they played in - just like Port 2020 did.
So there's enough proof to support the old saying - "The more things change, the more they are the same..."
