Has that been mentioned somewhere? I would've thought the two Queensland games would be bookends with the Gabba being the first one for the weekend to give the oval a bit more of a rest.

1 v 4 has been locked in as the Thursday night game for weeks.
Don't know why but has been mentioned in several circles.

The AFL confirmed Thursday night would be the opener. Tom Browne has alluded to Port v Geelong on twitter.

With Collingwood having to quarantine for 7 days on arrival into Perth and having only played last night it won't be them.

I'd say :

Port v Geelong - Thursday night
St Kilda v Bulldogs - Friday night
West Coast v Collingwood - Saturday ( Collingwood fly out on the red eye )
Brisbane v Richmond - Saturday night

Well done to the Saints who got their wish to play in a smaller venue.
I hope Geelong take note of their argument for future years. ;)

Predictions:

Week 1 Winners:
Port
Richmond
Bulldogs
Eagles

Week 2:
Geelong
Brisbane

Week 3:
Richmond
Port

Week 4:
Richmond

Would be amusing with Brisbane playing in Adelaide in week 3 with most other matches in Qld.

The AFL had controversially considered prioritising crowds and cash at Adelaide Oval over the Saints’ request to stay in Queensland.

But fixtures boss Travis Auld confirmed the AFL had decided St Kilda, having finished sixth on the ladder, had earned the right to choose their venue.

Auld said “the AFL was seeking to maximise attendance and audiences, along with considering relevant club preferences and balancing equitable day-breaks where possible for all clubs in the finals”.

“The St Kilda vs Western Bulldogs match at The Gabba took into consideration St Kilda’s request to play that venue as they finished above the Western Bulldogs on the ladder,” the AFL statement said.

Hope Geelong put that one in the memory bank.

Yup, got mine too. This morning was the smoothest I've found the online system all season.

I heard my card writhing in pain from within my wallet when the charge was applied; but no issues with the system at all.

Now I just need to hope Row D in eastern stand remains dry! haha
