Apparently Jeff Kennett on Melbourne radio this morning saying the season may been paused if players are asked to go into hubs again. It had been media speculation, but now a club President has tabled it. Some players will refuse to go back into hubs.

I think if the Victorian issue escalates ( only 3 cases today but now over 320 exposure sites ) the Queensland government might not be so accommodating in taking people from Victoria anyway. They helped out last year but I can't see them exposing themselves to another potential outbreak.

Brisbane @ $6.50 for the premiership and $6 for minor premiers is looking pretty schmick, if things go tits up in Melbourne they'll get a free ride, I can't see them wasting it again, having Neale out for so long is a blessing in disguise for them I reckon.

Reports Carlton, Essendon and Richmond players have made it known they'd head home ahead of going into a hub again.

A mass player exodus from at least three Victorian clubs is a live possibility if the AFL is forced to implement long-term hubs again in 2021.

The league has told clubs it will exhaust every possible option before considering long-term hubs for a second consecutive season - welcome news to some players at Essendon, Carlton and Richmond, who would seriously consider leaving their teams and returning to Victoria if their trips were extended beyond two or three weeks.

The issue is in sharp focus at these three clubs because they have a bye in Round 13 and would prefer to return home to spend time with family next week, even if Melbourne is in a lockdown.

Could all the Melbourne teams play each other (those that haven't yet) for the next month or so until they get things under control? Or does that compromise the competition too much cause what happens if they don't get things under control?

I still believe having a number of regional grounds might be the answer, fly in/play/fly out, then players and communities are exposed to the main population bases where COVID currently is

No surprise there is no mention of Bulldogs or Melbourne in there......im sure they would travel to the moon if it meant they got their premiership crack this season.

The competition is always compromised to a degree, but I'd think with the financial ramifications at play, all bet's are off this season in terms of how much compromise they'd be willing to accept to keeps the $$ rolling in.

If they can limp through the next 3 weeks as sides have the bye rounds then they'll get through, but I reckon one border closure North of Albury and the whole shebang is shutdown.

For instance Port have the bye now, we've got Geelong then the Gold Coast, Geelong (Port, obviously) then the Bulldogs, wouldn't surprise if Port/Geelong bunker down for 8 days on the Gold Coast and play both games up there.

I think no matter what they will find a way, even if they had to postpone the season for 14 days so everyone could isolate and then head interstate they will make it work somehow.

Cutting a season mid season would be a bigger disaster than not starting a season.

It looks like NSW will keep the border open as NSW backs in there health department and has a different philosophy of how to handle this whole thing.

Hence its a good bet Sydney would be the most likely spot for teams to fly I and out off with the Vic teams allowed to enter NSW from Vic.

Anyone catch AFL360 last night, and Gerards thoughts surrounding SA? I wasn't particularly thrilled with his thoughts on SA being the origin of the issue in Vic, so we can't take the moral highground (Robo rebutted him fairly well I thought), but did think it was interesting his suggestion we should put our hands up for a few neutral events including the Melb v Collingwood Big Freeze event. Would be some pretty good publicity for the state you'd think?
