He was offered 3 years but once the drug charges became known to Carlton they dropped it down to 1.

He didn't sign a contract for 3 years

BS, when you trade in a player they have to agree to terms, you can't trade someone in and say "we will work out the contract later"

Contracts can have clauses and triggers ie "if you are convicted of a criminal offence, we have the right to renegotiate your contract".

"But this masthead understands a likely three-year deal at around $350,000 a season was also pulled, with Hollands offered only a one-year deal."

Melbourne star Clayton Oliver has left the club’s Lorne training camp early to deal with personal medical challenges.

Channel Seven reporter Mitch Cleary said via X on Wednesday the 26-year-old had headed home, while the Herald Sun reported he left the club’s training camp early on Monday night.

Oliver is set to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in January after being pulled over by authorities for driving with a licence that was suspended on medical grounds.

Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin said earlier this year the star midfielder was dealing with personal challenges.

“Clayton Oliver has got some personal challenges and that’s the best way we can describe it. It’s a very complex situation that we’ve got going on with Clayton and clearly those challenges have been ongoing for multiple years,” Goodwin said on SEN.

“This isn’t something that has just reared its head in recent times. This is something that has been ongoing for our footy club and our team for a number of years.

“We’re working incredibly closely with Clayton right now and building the best people around him and putting care around him to deal with his complex personal issues.”

Agreed. This part is interesting :

for driving with a licence that was suspended on medical grounds

There wouldn't be too many conditions or medications that would have your license revoked I wouldn't have thought.

Hope he finds a healthy place soon.

Pretty sure he had the licence revoked due to that seizure he had. Ignored doctor's advice and drove anyway.

He has his issues, and decision making is one of them.

Seizures are definitely one that VIC Roads suspend you for. I think he had his license revoked due to a seizure and then got busted recently driving without a license

Feel for the bloke. I personally had seizures out of the blue at 26-27 and it completely changed the way I lived my life and socialised. Whilst I wasn’t epileptic It’s a shock to the system and it’s rough changing your life to accommodate especially at a time you’re living at your peak. It’s not a dick measuring contest and there are others doing it tougher no doubt, however it’s not a good place to be from experience.
