As a member elected position its up to us to decide and it's fair to say his passion for how the club is managed will get him across the line. What was Wanganeens skill set?

How long until Port (and Crows) are run by themselves and not the AFL? Or is it always going to be the AFL that chooses most of the Board positions for the two SA clubs? Crows, Port, Sydney, GWS and Gold Coast are at the whim of the AFL. Maybe that could be an advantage?

The members can vote Tredrea in, which would indicate a sentiment towards what he has very publicly said, but even then he is only one of nine board members.

I would imagine if Port was member-owned, like all the Vic clubs and Brisbane Lions, Tredrea would have a number of others backing him and joining him for election, much like Richmond had just before their members elected to keep their Board, and therefore Hardwick, and go on and win all those premierships.

Anyway, good on Tredrea for putting his money where his mouth is and having a go. Hinkley has built a fantastic squad and a great culture, but sometimes it needs a fresh voice to make that final step. There is also an argument for consistency to produce success. Is it frustrating for Port members to not be able to properly influence the club's direction, via a fully elected members Board?

Yep, up to the Members, there are no minimum standards or qualification requirements.

That said, to my knowledge, Wanganeen hasn’t ever publicly embarrassed himself by using a mobile on the field, sued his previous employer for not guaranteeing him 30 years employment, nor claiming that his club is a basket case and demanding that the coach be sacked before they won the next 13 matches. So I guess that’s a skill set he has.

Maybe a hint Butters will review the 'go home' factor at that point.

^ this.

Will be his 8th year, he'll be in our top 25% of earners to becomes a restricted free agent. Price gets driven up by a market that will have 17 suitors and we have to pay over market rate. Great management.

Port would have had a longer deal in front of him no doubt, many players have taken FA out of the equation by extending beyond it.

Butters is a great player but there is no chance he will be Captain, Rozee clearly.
