A live shootout tournament would work better over a few weeks, rather than 1 day/night.. what happens when a table or 2 play slow and take for ever to finish up??

The trouble with the casino is the poker zone isn't big enough to run a 10 table tournament and cash games at the same time.. and they won't run tournaments on the weekends or public holidays..

Think they had 8 tables to start with but got the 9th set up b4 starting, opening a 10th after they started. Then 9 alternates sat down with full stacks as others were knocked out.

Can anyone give me advice on the best player tracker software to download? I read in a mag about holdem manager being one of the better ones, but when attempting to downlaod my virus protection convinced me otherwise.

I have used poker tracker before.. holdem manager would be fine IMO. Your AntiVirus probably doesnt like it because of how it accesses the internet..

Played 888 poker at the checkside tavern tonight... 1st pub poker game since it started...

WHAT A BUNCH OF ******* RETARDS!!!!!!

How these people play poker is beyond belief, calling 7 big blinds on the flop with 6-4 off suit after hitting a 4, then telling the bloke who he knocks out after hitting 2 pair on the turn, HR played the hand well.. knocked out bloke had pocket kings

Then the same bloke decides to tell the table how u make so much money playing those kinds of hands in a cash game! And would call any bet pre flop with pocket 2s...

**** these **** are dumb..

Welcome to Freeroll Poker Mickey, it's the same everywhere .. I haven't played it, but the $10 buy-in game on the Tuesday night at Checkside is supposed to be excellent, might be worth giving that one a crack.

Is that a cash buy in game or free entry? These pub games encourage to drink more in return for stamps to redeem extra chips. A format like that is never going to produce good poker.

If he is going to play like that you should invite him to a home cash game, making sure he brings his atm card!

Twas the free roll, the Mrs didn't get home from work til just after 7 and couldn't be arsed charging upto town for the $80 casino tourney..

Basically every spud there knew each other so I kept to myself most of the night, but when he started talking about playing those hands in a cash game I couldn't bite my tongue anymore... the invite was made to any cash game I was playing
;)

I played the 1st couple of tournaments ever played at the then crows tavern... I swear the play wasn't as bad then..

I used to play a lot of pub poker. I think its more your game has improved while theres remains the same.

Problem is a lot of people play for the social aspect of it, not poker itself. So they don't care what cards they play, as long as it's fun, have some drinks and chat to some mates.

Thats what the whole premise of pub poker is about, plus if you do well at it you can play some larger tournaments. But generally the overall play is crap.

That being said, I've seen a hell of a lot worse play at the casino... in cash games.
