Will be heading in for the $125 tournament tonight. Hopefully the poker zone regulars are all in Melbourne for the Aussie millions ;)

How'd you go ?
I got lucky several times and made it to heads up b4 finally succumbing at 2.00am
Had about 400k to 700k with blinds 30k/60k 10k antes and was put All In. I look down at AA and call. Up against K10. Flop of QJ10 and have to dodge a 9,10 or A. 8 on turn and of course an A on the river. :( Hit top set and lose to a straight.

2am? ugh... kinda why I don't like these tourneys on weeknights. They need an 10am and 3pm tourney on Sat or Sun.

Got eliminated just before the 1st break. Had 1 guy on my table who was hitting flops like crazy. Lost about 9k with pocket kings when he calls a pre flop raise with A-3 off suit.

Basically the 1st time I've ever tilted at the table and my next blind had A-7 suited. A on flop I shoved my last 6k in. Lost to 2 pair.

The casino get asked all the time to run weekend tournaments, but with penalty rates on dealers wages, the rake they would have to charge would be worse than it already is. Meaning lesser into the prize pool, or an inflated buy in.

If I had the resources id buy an old shop or similar and start my own poker room

You can't take rake outside of a poker environment.

And as far as I know the casino doesn't run tourneys on weekends purely because they make more money on cash games. I don't think there are penalty rates for casino employees

Speaking of which i remember probably five years or so ago playing a cash tourney at the match room in the city. I knew not long after it was raided by cops for being an illegal enterprise or something like that. Does anyone know what happened there and if they hold tourneys there again?

there is an safooty home game on pokerstars, games started predominantly at 8pm.

but they can be arranged to start at another time if the punters would like that.

it started off in a blaze of glory, especially the fri nights and sat nights free tourneys

there were also cheap cash games

i think poker on the computer is ok but its better to be playing at a table with real people sitting there - even if there are a couple of knobs!!!

I know that only the casino can charge a rake, was thinking more like a decent home game tournament but in a more comfortable setting and with more space..

Have some mates that have a $100 buy in tourney but doesn't play regularly because of finding a house with enough room for 20 people..

Have hired hotel rooms in the past for cash games.

Snuck onto the final table at the casino tonight. The last 2 tables were basically a shove fest.. ran my 9-9 and my last 47k into A-A..

Still turned $80 into $180

Played for about 4 hours tonight in an NPL/Pokerstars invitational, 273 runners finished 17th, prizes started at 10th.

Whilst being the short stack was always going to make it tough, spewing at my lack of patience at the end.
