Great write up LPH!!

Derby Day scares me lol because it’s not typically been a good day for the bank account. Might go hard (by my impoverished standards) at the earlier races with the various (Sportsbet, UBET and Ladbrokes) promos and see if that leaves anything for the latter races.

Good luck lads, hope it’s a big day for all!

Best Raceday of the year IMO.
Good to see them going around in Brissy this week too, the last leg of the quaddie up there has 22 runners!

And I bet something as rough as guts gets up too, or #20.

Empire Rose, what a star she was.
She was my 1st Cup winner,.....i was 9, i remember cheering her home, and the teachers looked at me quite weirdly.....little did they know...

Trained by Laurie Laxon and ridden Sheila, both very underrated.

When I was about lets say "18" I put $20 on this horse because I liked the name, it came second and it was $26 a win, there was a protest so my mate said keep your ticket, it still might win, the protest was upheld so I threw my ticket away.

About two months later I found out what "upheld" meant, 520 clams back then was some handy coin.

She ran 4 winners Friday @ Gawler IIRC, I wish I was on her for the day, I did alright though, went there with $200, $30 entry, the missus was ticking over very well from an afternoon on the champers, I downed about 10-12 cans of cider/bourbon and we walked out with $190, I'll take that as a win.

I urge you all to get down to the Gawler Cup next year if it's on a Friday, it was a great day out there, drinks were well priced, food was superb, atmosphere was brilliant.

Maybe we could organise a SAFooty 'show' out there next year?
Meet n Greet & all that?

Weather forecast is wet for both Monday and Cup day Tuesday here in Melb. Not sure if it will be enough to overly affect the track.

Not completely random, LPH mentioned the great mare in his preview.
