Strange winning patterns

One question raised (for me at least) by Norwood's unorthodox form in the year so far. It's probably a tough one to answer, even by your amazing standards, Spelly:

The last time a club (which had played all teams) had beaten everyone except South and West? I'm wagering it would be quite some time ago.

One other question (which is true of Norwood now, but hopefully won't be after this weekend): what's the best-ever (end-of-year) result by a club that didn't beat any opponent twice through the year?

I don't think I can answer your first question, because of course a lot of seasons clubs play someone twice before another clubs first encounter with a particular club. Unles you are talking about the entire season, which I cannot find any.

The second question:

Torrens in 1926 won seven - defeated everyone once. This is the only instance a club has defeated everyone else once only in a season.
North in 1940 won six - defeated everyone except Port
South in 1989 won six - Central, Norwood, Sturt, West, Torrens, Woodville
North in 1993 won six - Central, Glenelg, Norwood, South, Sturt, West
Torrens in 1986 won six - Glenelg, North, Port, Sturt, West, Woodville

Honourable mentions go to:
Sturt in 1925 won eight - defeated everyone once except Glenelg - twice
Sturt in 1977 won nine - defeated everyone except North; beat Norwood twice
West in 1994 won nine - defeated everyone once except Sturt - twice

Thanks re 2nd part, spelly. Interesting that beating all teams once, but no-one twice, has only happened once in the history of the comp. Did Torrens make the finals in 1926?

Not sure if there was a misunderstanding re: the first part. I'm not much concerned whether all other teams in the comp have played everyone. The situation I'm interested in is where the team under discussion has (at any given point in the season) recorded at least one win against all other teams in the comp, except hasn't beaten South and West (and ignoring the situation where the only reason why they haven't recorded wins against South and West, is because they haven't played them!). That is, the situation Norwood is in right now.

No, they missed them by half a match.

I had a good (but not thorough look) and I can't find any instances. I can say for certainty that it hasn't happened over the entire course of a season. Glenelg went close in 1967, however they also failed to beat Port.
