5AA "Where Are They Now??"

Anything to do with the history of the SANFL

Postby Snaggletooth Tiger » Sat Jan 27, 2007 8:43 am

Not forgetting Graham Cornes self righteous, holier than thou, Right Wing political views!
They should stick to sport (Aussie Rulz mainly)
Non partisan or parochial & be done with it!

Adelaide Hawk wrote:I don't know if you've ever heard SEN, REB old boy, but it is an actual sports show. Not a Crows show like 5AA. If there's a sporting event taking place at the time, then that is what gets their attention. With KG & Cornes (who remind me a lot of Waldorf and Stadler from the Muppets), you could have the Australian Open, the Adelaide Test Match, and the British Open Golf all going on at the same time, and yet their show would still be 70% Crows and a little bit of Power. And if they discuss AFL, they talk about ALL 16 clubs, not just Melbourne teams.

Yes, SEN has a Victorian flavour, but their presenters have a light hearted attitude to sport. They are there to entertain, not to annoy the crap out their listeners. And they present sport on a global scale, not just focus on what is happening in their own back yard. Their callers are witty, and much more interesting than the tunnel-visioned drones who ring into 5AA. If someone rings with a contrary point of view, they are allowed to articulate their opinions without being interupted by a barage of arrogance and abuse from Cornes, or KG screaming like a stuck pig. And they will end the call with, "We don't necessarily agree, but thanks for your call".

If you prefer arrogance, propoganda, narrow mindedness and just want to hear about the Crows ad nauseum, then 5AA is for you. If you prefer a more rounded point of view and like sport in general, then SEN is the way to go. The choice is yours.

Brilliant. They are an embarrassment to the state.

Yes, yes, yes, I know where you guys are coming from, but despite their biased viewpoints, biased topics and all their faults (which causes me to switch off sometimes too), they are still icons of South Australia and I love them. I don't see them as an embarrassment to the state - just something which helps to make SA a unique, interesting place to live!

And if you want to have some chance of the SANFL being mentioned on the radio as you drive home, they are still the only option as they do discuss the SANFL on a regular basis - which you must give them credit for.

Sad part about it is there used to be more SANFL on SEN which was a Victorian station. Goes to show you how sad 5AAFL is.
And I agree, they are an embarassment.
As we've seen on this site people like to generalise and people interstate may generalise us all as they morons!
If they had any integrity they'd step aside and allow some younger people to step in (and no, not Bones and Wildy! Mind you, they do talk more SANFL than dumb and dumber)
Last time I rang up Dumb and Dumber I was told I was silly for expecting a crowd at the Rooster Rally and I'd be lucky if 60 people turned up.
2000 people later.....
Absolute morons with no idea.

What shits me with 5aa is they get Robert Walls on to talk from a Victorian perspective but all they ask is his opinion on how the Crows and Puffs are going...FFS!!!

Exactly. And if they are talking to anyone from another sport, the conversation inevitably gets back to the Crows and Power. Incredible.

And although I think Cornes would know a bit about Glenelg, KG is always on about his "beloved Bloods". I am prepared to wager he would struggle to name more than 10 players currently at West, last year's B&F winner, and who coached Westies before Shaun Rehn. He wouldn't have a clue.

you wouldnt get a straight answer because KG is so busy with all of his media commitments and his AFL duties.

Here's a plan...let's pick a time when the Idiot Twins are on air and on the count of three we bombard the station with phone calls, emails, and faxes for half an hour flat out asking about all the things mentioned previously and demanding SANFL be given the respect it deserves. We could do this on a daily, weekly, monthly period or until our demands are met. We could plan it by PM too to make it all covert and make us all feel tough. What do you reakon?
