In the last quarter when Collingwood got 15 points in front they condascendingly mention what a good effort by North to push a full strength Collingwood for 3 1/2 quarters. North then kicked the last 3 goals 5 behinds of the match to win by 8 points. The pre match articles in the Melbourne Age and Melbourne Sun also mention how Collingwood were at full strength and were going to decimate North.

And we were missing Andrew Jarman from memory as I think it's the first time Darren played centre.

That's right, Andrew had cracked some ribs in a night game against Sturt a week or so earlier. Darren played a great game as did David Robertson, who won the TV on offer for B.O.G.

Port played Geelong in 1990 and lost by around 8 goals.

They then played against Essendon and Collingwood in the same year, either 92 or 93. Both Port and Collingwood wore their normal strip. Collingwood won by about 5 points.

Then Port played Essendon again in 94 and Port won by plenty. Then Port played Freo in 95 and Freo won by plenty.

I reckon Port played Collingwood and lost to them by 3 points in 1993. As you said they both wore their normal strips and there was certainly no clash. I would have thought that Collingwood and Geelong would have been more of a clash. Mark Tylor who had just come off a 97 goal season, but had missed the premiership kicked a bag of goals on Gayfer. After the game Leigh Matthews praised Port and in paticular the spine of Tylor, D Smith, S Williams, Phillips and Delaney and said it was easily the best spine outside of the AFL if not indeed AFL standard.

I also saw Port beat Collingwood at Norwood oval in 1967. Once again the clash of guernsey's wasn't an issue. That is why I wish that Port had stood up to Allan McAllister and then Eddie Maguire and taken the prison bar guernsey into the AFL. If the AFL can have three blue and white sides, including two that are navy and white, why couldn't they have two black and white sides. To me the prison bar is easily the best guernsey I have ever seen. Sorry about my rant, I know I have got off topic, but I just wanted to air my views.
