robran v nunan

Postby bayman » Sun Mar 25, 2007 1:24 pm

well we have all heard the stories with the taking of the photos down etc etc in the 1980's but is there any real animosity between the two men or is it more an urban myth ???

& while on the subject who has been better for the club ??

1, a coach that got premierships & a consistent winning team that made finals year in year out

or

2, a legend of the club (yes football in general) who has always had north first in his heart etc

i'm just interested in knowing what north people think so over to you punk, wedgie & co
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

you must be talking about cahill v ebert 8)
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

Nunan had a few that weren't his friends but Barrie certainly wasn't there, the only thing Ive ever seen Barrie show anything resembling anomisity towards is Port Adelaide.

I know that this is meant in jest, but is bayman's question equally pertinant to the Port legends as well?
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Shouldn't that read:

2. a legend of the club who also got premierships (the same number as Nunan).

thats probably a fair call but he was in a team of 20 & i was trying to have it singuarly one on one, maybe what i should've asked is which of these two men have been better for north personally i'd think robran, but i'd thank nunan for the stringer brothers

Robran was voted best players in the 71 finals for North, was BOG in the 72 GF and BOG in both Champions League matches (including the celebrated win over Carlton). With respect to the Alan Howards and Daryl Webbs of the world - if Robran wasn't at North it's doubtful that they would have won their flags.

The more I hear about Barrie, the more I like him.

Different era's and too many people's emotions get in the way of their club moving on, I would be surprised if both weren't revered by North fans.

Easy to say that CP but not always possible. Sometimes people are left with very deep scars.

Why do we so often feel the need to rank people and work out who was the best or who did the most? Both of these guys have done a lot for NAFC it's never crossed my mind to try to split them - why would you want to? I thought the same when I read the other thread comparing Bagshaw, Ebert & Robran. All champions in their own right each of whom would be embarrassed to think they were being compared to or ranked against the other two.

Fair call ML, it's not a situation I can relate to so I guess I'm just imagining how I'd feel as a North supporter ... One a champion player and the other a coach that delivered dual premiership success, I would have thought from a fans perspective both would be highly regarded.
