Anything to do with the history of the SANFL

Statistics forum

To Wedgie and Spell-Check:

Have you guys thought about setting up a forum in SAFooty for SANFL statistics so Spelly doesn't have to clog up the SANFL History forum with never-ending threads containing player lists and the like. This is not a complaint BTW, rather a suggestion because I don't think the thread format does justice to his information and some of the topics are 30 pages long - a new person will never read through it all.

Getting the Stats threads in to their own forum might be a good start, but maybe in future the Stats page could be set up so that Spelly can upload his stats automatically without having to update or start start new threads. You know, live tables of information allowing filtering and sorting, etc.

Just some thoughts. Spelly obviously does a great job but not sure if the site is making the most of his stats.

It depends on what exactly you want separate. The players lists threads contain some nostaliga in them with a few tales about players, and they aren't really stats threads either.

I don't really see a need for it.

I was thinking of an SANFL statistics page like the one on the AFL website. A section where you can look up past results, player lists, etc (all maintained with up to date info). I wondered if SAFooty could be the first site to gather all the disparate databases, etc and become the definitive info source for SANFL stats.

Maybe it's best left for the SANFL website? There would be a cost to set it all up too.

I think essentially, if it can be done, then its an excellent idea. To have all the stats in one spot. Half the club sites dont even have many stats up, the SANFL site has improved but not regarding old stats.

Ill always say something mirroring this site would be fantastic:

It would take a hell of a lot of work though.[/url]
