(As it appeared in the Football Budget)

New football promotion launched

Last weekend a series of League Club Songs were released and are being distributed by Amoco through the metropolitan dealers. The records produced by Gamba are in smart jackets in club colours and are selling for 69 cents. Each Amoco dealer in the metropolitan area is stocking supplies of all club records. For general interest, the "Budget" thought it would include the words of all the club songs in this issue, as below -

Norwood
It's a grand old flag it's a high flying flag
The emblem for you and for me
It's the emblem of the team we love
The team of the red and the blue
Every heart beats true for the red and the blue
As we sing this song to you
What do we sing -
Should old acquaintance be forgot keep your eye on the red and the blue

Oh the team played fine in the year '29
The Redgles that no-one could lick, lick, lick
From the crowds first yell to the final bell
The spirit of old forty six, six, six
Every heart beats true for the red and the blue
As we sing this song to you
What do we sing -
Should old acquaintance be forgot keep your eye on the red and the blue

Sturt
It's a grand old flag it's a high flying flag
The emblem for me and for you
It's the emblem of the team we love
The team of the old double blues
Every heart beats true for the old double blues
As we sing this song to you
What do we sing -
Should old acquaintance be forgot keep your eye on the old double blues

South Adelaide
We are the Panthers bold and true
We are the Panthers white and blue
We're the team who never nets you down
We're the greatest club in Adelaide town
We play it hard we play to win
We stick together through thick and thin
We put our heads down and tear through
We're the Panthers Bold and True

CHORUS:
Onwards Panthers Fight! Fight! Fight!
Onwards Panthers with all your might
Onwards Panthers see it through
Onwards Panthers Bold and True

North Adelaide
It's a great great Club
And the Club we love
We're the good old red and whites
The mighty Roosters we're called
All for one, one for all
When we're down, we fight, fight, fight

We always play as a team
And we play it keen
We're never out of sight
Be it wet, be it dry
We try, try, try

We're the good old red and whites
We're the good old red and whites

West Adelaide
We're a happy team the Bloodhounds
We're the Mighty Red and Blacks
We love our Club and we play to win
Riding the bumps with a grin - at Westies
Come what may you'll find us striving
Team-work is the thing that talks
All for one and one for all
The way we are at Westies
We are the mighty Blood and Tars

(More club songs on page 11)

(Continued from page 9)
Woodville
Come on ya Peckers
Come on ya Peckers
It's our Woody Woodpeckers song
Come on ya Peckers
Come on ya Peckers
And we're yelling it all day long

We're the green and gold
And we're brave and bold
And we fight right to the end
We never say die
As we aim for the sky
Determined to make it the trend

Come on ya Peckers
Come on ya Peckers
It's our Woody Woodpeckers song
Come on ya Peckers
Come on ya Peckers
And we're yelling it all day long

Cos we never give in
For we know it's a sin
So we lift our game to win
Come on ya Peckers
Come on ya Peckers
It's the theme we all join in

Glenelg
Now we are the boys of the GFC
Our gold and black colours a picture to see
We're dashing, we're gay, we're the pride of the Bay
Our war cry strikes fear in the teams that we play

A tiger for me, a tiger for me
If you're not a tiger
You're no good for me
The Westies are small
The Norwoods are tall
But the bonny wee tiger
Is the pride of them all

Our League side, our seconds
The thirds or our colts
We'll take on all comers, no matter results
We'll thrash 'em
We'll slay 'em
At our ground by the sea
Then roar out our chorus for each victory

A tiger for me, a tiger for me
If you're not a tiger
You're no good for me
The Westies are small
The Norwoods are tall
But the bonny wee tiger
Is the pride of them all

Port Adelaide
The pride of Port Adelaide is out football team
Of all the good players well we have the cream
Just look up our records and there you will find
The lively young Magpie was never far behind

They've beaten the best in Australia
I'll back them against all the rest
With them there's no such word as faliure
They've proven this in many a test

CHORUS:
So - Black and White we're going to stick it to you
Cane them up just like we used to do
Back in your Magpies make that your war cry
They're sure to fall for you

Centrals
Our Bulldogs are the best in Australia
On our ground we will never be beat
The skill in our side is unbelievable
For we'll down all the teams in the League

CHORUS:
Singing Tooralie Ooralie Attattie
Singing Tooralie Ooralie Aye
Singing Tooralie Ooralie Attatte
For we are the red, white and blues

So all you young lads join the Bulldogs
Come roll out the red white and blue
The V on our guernsey for victory
For we are the red white and blues

West Torrens
(To the tune of John Brown's Body)
CHORUS:
We're the mighty flying Eagles
We're the mighty flying Eagles
We're the mighty flying Eagles
And will win the flag this year

VERSE:
Down at the Torrens
There's a mighty football team
They're known as the Eagles
And they'll always reign supreme
They play to win they'll never lose
In every game they play
And they'll win the flag this year

CODA:
May old acquaintance be forgot
Keep your eyes on the gold and the blues

No, now we're "dashing we're BRAVE, We're the pride of the Bay"

But are the Westies still small????? :-k

By the way regarding West Torrens' club song - just to be pedantic - I always thought it was "Down by the river Torrens"
"They got Burton suits, ha, you think it's funny, turning rebellion into money"
