There's a few other strange choices as well.

I don't think there was a selection criteria, which makes it a bit of a joke.

Appears to be whoever the selector(s) think is a "legend", although in what context, is not known.

I'm thinking Legend means "character of the game". So, the Gowans boys are fair enough in that context.
Looking through that list there are outright Legends and then Legend characters, characters outweighing the Legends (if that makes sense).

I reckon I'd put blokes like Klanger Klenjans in there. Who was the other South Adelaide bloke of that era who was a bit of a "character"?

Maybe Lee Robson from Torrens; Stan Wickham; Eddie Hocking; Bruce Lindsay.

As it is, the side just looks like a "best of the 70's and 80's" team, with a few random exceptions.

Without comparing eras and weighting every SANFL season the exact same the Gowans 9 premierships medals plus Jack Oateys and overall performances in the 2000-2010 probably compare very well to any footballers to play SANFL.

But obviously the SANFL in the 2000s was clearly the second best comp in the land while in other eras it may have been the best comp in the land.

Probably should have had two sides one before and after the inclusion of the SA based AFL sides.
