'87 State of Orgin Game

Is currently on Foxtel, for those that have it, on Channel 504...

What a great game that was. So good to see some former SANFL champions playing in this game...

From memory, we won '86 & '87 by small margins. Umpire Russo's display was quite controversial.

'88 was Bicentennial game which we won, but was a bigger margin.

Was great to revisit that game- I dont recall watching it before with the Victorian commentary!

Umpires quick to call a ball up, instead of doing 2 laps around the pack and plucking a rubbish holding the ball. Ahh the memories.

Lol I bet the Vics all voted for that one on Chooseday Night Football thinking that it was probably a Victoria win.

Dammit! Would pay to pay more attention to the tv guide!

I collect beta videos and was fortunate enough in my latest batch to get a copy of the 86 game. Atmosphere sounded amazing! Over 40 thousand there on a Tuesday night. Also very noticeable that the umpires made sure the game flowed and moved quickly, with quick ball-ups etc. High quality game!

86 was an awesome game, free flowing with decent scoring from memory, Dietrich bagged 4!

Watching the 87's SOG game again when it was on Fox, the thing that stood out for me, even on a greasy night, was the ability of the umpires to bounce the ball without a single one being wayward.

Looked like they were using Faulkners, wonder if the shape of the ball had something to do with it because it left the bouncing by todays umps for dead,
