I see on Sturtfc.com.au they have a release on the passing of Doug Klar. Doug was the epitome of what makes SA Footy and footy in general great - the wonderful people you meet who dedicate themselves to their club in order to see it be successful.

A top bloke and a gentleman to boot he is an non-playing legend of the SANFL and one of the great trainers of the SANFL who went on to be head trainer of the State team on numerous occasions.

When an on-field role became to great he moved into the back room and became the Sturt property steward so he could still serve his club. In my one year at Sturt it was great to sit down and listen to his stories of teh Greats of SANFL footy - what they were like as people Oatey, Bagshaw, Davies and Halbert.

Vale Dougy Klar, you are a legend and like Bill Wedding the world of SA Footy is greater for you being part of it and the poorer because of your passing

RIP
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I knew Doug very well, he was such a great gentleman and a good person to learn off. From a Trainer to Head Trainer for 30 years then to a Property Steward for about 5 years, his heart and sole was for the Sturt Football Club. I had the privalage of beening baby sat by him when I was a young boy, this is a great loss to the Sturt Club. My condolences go out to his lovely wife Connie (who was like a grandma to me) and family, may the blues win it for you this year Doug, A TRUE BLUE MAN. :(
