He was my first picked after Fos Williams ... 600 goals from a HF flank ... outstanding, and didn't make Norwood's Team of The Century which still amazes me.

I've gotta say as someone who has done a bit of research on the war years Sawley's inclusion is more than warranted, but I would have at least had the dodger on the bench.

I actually saw Brian Sawley play when I was a kid. At his best brilliant skills, on a bad day half-hearted and inclined to pick fights.
I think Roger was more reliable.

It wasn't Brian Sawley who was selected, it was Albert "Pongo" Sawley. Trouble is, he played most of his footy in the centre. Has they picked the team on positions, Woodcock would have bolted in.
