From The Advertiser May 9th 1905
When the North Adelaide football team drove away from the Norwood Oval on Saturday after defeating the local team they were set upon by a mob of larrikins, many of whom were adults. The drag had just reached Engel's Corner, Norwood, when a crowd barred the way and, without any provocation, opened with a fusillade of stones, brickbats and firewood. The footballers ducked under the seats to get out of the way of the missiles but many were hit. The driver was struck by a stone on his head, while the lamp on the drag was smashed to pieces. A heavy piece of firewood, about two feet long, was thrown into the drag and this is now on exhibition in a shop window in O'Connell st, North Adelaide, and attached to it is the following intimation:, "Thrown at North Adelaide Football team by Norwood hoodlums." It is said that there were over 100 larrikins on the scene, and that police did not put in an appearance. It is stated that last year, when the Norths were defeated by the Norwoods, they were similarly attacked....
