could someone write down for me the names of sanfl team names and how they got it. please included other names of that team. it is for my ice hockey team website (i have a section of aussie rules football).

KANGAROOS
North Melbourne's early nickname was the 'Shinboners'. Briefly it was changed to the 'Blue Birds' in 1926, but it was quickly reverted to the 'Shinboners', a name that has several theories on its origins. But the most common one is that the players worked at the local abattoirs. In 1950, club president Phonse Tobin changed the nickname to the 'Kangaroos' as he disliked the 'Shinboners' and wanted a mascot the club could show.

West Torrens' earlest nickname has the same theory/origin as the Kangaroos, except they were known as the 'Butchers', also they were known as the 'blue and golds' until I'm sure it was Bob Hank who came up with 'Eagles' in the early 50's.

Sturt - Double Blues. If Oxford Terrace and Cambridge Streets were extended they
would intersect in the middle of Unley oval. Sturt took the colours of the English
universities of the same names.
Port Adelaie - Magpies. Black & white colours, self explanatory.
Glenelg- Tigers. Ditto.
Central District - Bulldogs. Their first set of jumpers were donated by VFL club Footscray.
Norwood - Redlegs. I have read that Norwood were helped out the same way by Melbourne
as Central were by Footscray. Not sure if this is true or not.
West Adelaide - Bloods. Shortened version of 'Blood n' Tars' which reflects their colours, Red & Black.
They tried 'Wolves' during the 70's and even though their emblem still has a wolf's head on it, I don't think
it has stuck(or has it?).
North - Roosters. Were referred to as 'Cock of the North'. 'Cock' then translated into Roosters.
Not sure about South, West Torrens and Woodville.
