Club Goalkicking Records

Postby purch » Sun Apr 11, 2010 12:27 am

Just wondering when was the last time an all-time club goalkicking record was broken. Tim Evans back in the 80s? Or Luders from West?

Brant Chambers (touch wood) is about to do it for Sturt, by going past Rick Davies' 635 goals. A wonderful achievement in this day and age.

Bruce Schultz, when he passed Roy Bent's record of 333 goals in 1938 :)

Point taken...apart from the hybrids then...a club older than 20 years.

Pretty close to a dead-heat this one. Rick Davies certainly broke Sturt's record in 1984, and I'm pretty sure Roger Luders did at West in the same year. Tim Evans would've claimed the Port record a few years earlier.

How would Passador compare to either Woodville or Torrens then?

Passador 312 for the Eagles
Lindsay Head 525 for West Torrens
Ralph Sewer 385 for Woodville

Ben Warren is only 70 odd away from being South's all time leading goalkicker.

Another unusual thing about Ben Warren is that a couple of years ago,2006 or 2007 I think ; he topped Souths league and reserves goalkicking in the same year!!!!

. says something about where we've been I think. :?

Yeah, I reckon former Norwood and Broadview player Mark Jones topped Central's goal kicking in about 97, the year the Dogs struggled, with about 23 goals from memory !!

Dogs were pretty close to playing a 3rd successive Grand Final that year mate, can't remember the final score, but they really pushed the eventual premiers in the Prelim.
