Magarey votes - same player, different club, same season

Postby CK » Mon May 17, 2010 8:52 pm

Hi Spelly,

When was the last time that a player polled Magarey votes for different clubs in the same season (due to a transfer), please?
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

Can a player still win the medal even if he plays for two clubs? Wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibilty, especially if that player gets a really good start of 3 BOGS in the first three rounds. Which club would the medal be credited to? How about if they got more votes at the club they started the year at?

The simple answer is yes. And I'm sure there has been a player/s who have polled for two different clubs in the same season. Spelly will find it.

What about Milan Faletic in 1978? He was the one that I thought may have been a possibility.

I've refered to my notes to make sure, and I have him recorded as two lots of 2 and two lots of one vote under the double 3-2-1 for Port and none for Torrens. It could well be when the results were published that the players name is only under the one club if it ever happened.

You would be right. I just thought that given he transferred so late in the season he may have polled some votes for Torrens early in the year. He was the only possibility that I could think of in my time of following the SANFL.
