He grew up at Fulham IIRC, but for some reason (maybe through his old man or school) I thought he was aligned to Westies?

Pretty sure Greg Anderson played junior footy (U17s?) at Torrens.

Couldn't have played too much coz he made his league debut for Port when he was 16...

Michael Aish grew up in the West Torrens area. Maybe you're thinking West Adelaide because he played mini-league for Westies.

Kerley was coach of West Torrens at the time and moved heaven and earth to get Aish to the Eagles, but Michael had always been a staunch Norwood supporter and idolised Phil Carman, plus the family were all Norwood as well, so it was an easy decision for him to join Norwood.

Cheers mate, all of that fits pretty well with what I'd thought, just adds the reasons why

Eugene Warrior Port Adelaide to Norwood
Mark Jones Norwood to Centrals
Mal Woodville to Division 4 Amatuer League Renown Park

Those 3 players had amazing skills
BUT
The 3 of them wasted thier careers and should have been a helluva lot better

Keith Kuhlmann transferred from westies I think ??????

Not sure if it was a high profile transfer at the time, but I remember him kicking the longest "screwies" I've ever seen.

Cmon schimma ????????????

Next you'll mention Russell Hutton from Woodville to sturt or the "famous" transfer of Daryl Brown from the barton.

Let's at least mention some players that at least made an impact of sorts.

Adelaide Hawk wrote:Damian Obst was a good pickup from Sturt. Good pace and skills off a wing, we could do with a player like him right now.

Pretty sure it was a swap of sorts for Scott Robinson.
The deal worked out well for both players and club.

David Frost went at the same time but not sure of the reasons.
He was very a serviceable defender for the blues, not sure why he transferred ?

you could fill up a hole page on its own with players coming and going between port and west, and back again. ray hayes , kevin beswick , and trever grimwood all followed fos to west from port.ian verrier comes to mind.

Since we are right off famous transfers, and just talking transfers, no-one has mentioned Martin Kahl leaving Glenelg due to lack of opportunity (stuck behind Peter Carey) and coming to Norwood and suffering from a lack of opportunity (actually being no good). ;)
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.

Won him a premiership medal AND a Ken Farmer medal.

... after Wayne Stringer told him there was no place for him at Glenelg.
