Norwoods' players on the list

Anything to do with the history of the SANFL

I think this has come up recently. Reckon it's Frederick Bennett, who came over after playing for N.A.

Haven't heard that he is. He's the guy that John Wynne spotted from East Perth. Probably a late developer, as a lot of big men are, as he only played 4 league matches in W.A, after playing his first game in 2001/2. Must have had a great debut for Norwood, however.

He wouldn't be a relation to Dirk DeJong, as it is Robbie DeJongh (with h on the end), unless he changed his name.

We have Alan McCard listed but 'Men Of Norwood" has the name A.R.McCord listed. Do we know which one is correct?

Legs11, I've found another player who isn't mentioned on this list, not was he listed in 'Men At Norwood". His surname is Juniper, and I think his first name starts with a J. He played 4 games for the Redlegs in 1909. What source are you using to find all these first names?

It's certainly not the Advertiser or the Register. I was looking at those today between the years 1907 and 1930 and there's not a first name to be seen :)

LL Hill: Footballer/Premier

Postby Ebert, Evans & Me » Mon Jul 24, 2006 12:32 am

The LL Hill that is mentioned is Lionel Laughton Hill, Premier of South Australia from 1926-27 and 1930-33. I would say that this makes him the only SANFL footballer to serve as Premier of South Australia. Here's a link to his wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lionel_Hill

He must have been a decent footballer as he represented South Australia.

Here's a tough (maybe impossible) one: most Norwood debutants in any one match? (Leaving aside round 1, 1878, round 1, 1919 and round 1, 1945!)

A cuppla weeks ago you would have got very short odds on Iggy Vallejo playing and making it 6, too. (Still, you woulda got mighty long odds on two ruck debutants, so it's swings and roundabouts.)

I'd only could say from 2001 onwards. Not sure off hand, but it would only be in the opening round.
