spelly, i've missed a couple of weddings but most of my mates have got married out of footy season & no one is stupid enough to marry me, being sick yes i've gone to the footy & been crook but i always think that if i've gone to work crook i can go to the footy as well, infact i discharged myself on a saturday morning after having kidney stones on the thursday/friday i was supposed to wait for the doctor & i said i'm fine i wont wait for him went home got changed & went to the footy

That's why there is that fuss about it, to make every effort to go to all of the games like that. As you said, it's your choice, but not every avid follower of an SANFL team could have done that. And you would be paying s**t loads to do that in the AFL (from 1987) to see every match every season for a club you follow.

Must admit I've never missed a game from being ill, had a migraine at Elizabeth one day but stayed.
This century I've missed one game because of a wedding (draw against Norwood in 03), one because of interstate travel (once again against Norwood - the underwater game that cost us a double chance and Rd 1 this year by choice.
Used to mis the occasional Elizabeth game in the late 90s due to distance and getting the chance to play or watch As and Bs for Noarlunga who I was involved with.
Game I missed before that was when John Roberts kicked his 100th in 87 at Prospect because I had a gig in a band.
That's it since 83 but certainly doesn't compare to Bayman's extraordinary feat especially when you take into the amount of games not involving Glenelg he's gone too, he's a true SA Footy icon!

Having said that, he's soft as he's missing EPW this week, I won't be.

There was an article in the Herald Sun a couple of years back about a Bulldogs supporter who hadn't missed a game in thirty years including all interstate clashes. That was impressive.

I missed one game in ten years prior to moving to Melbourne. Bloody weddings and I was best man so I couldn't get out of it. So I bow to the Bayman's very impressive record

I would think she would have had to do some cost saving on these trips, or know friends from all over Australia. Or maybe she's just got lots of dough. ;)

I remember in an article that Luke Sparrow (The guy who travels all over the world to see every Australian Cricket Test) doesn't pay much at all to do so, I can't remember how, mind you.

I think in the late 90s' on TV there was an article about an elderly Sturt supporter who saw nearly every Sturt game from around the 1920s or something like that. (Anyone else remember that story?)

Ernie Wenske has hardly missed a match from 1964, too.

Any other people that others know of that have such longevity of almost (or never) missing matches?

Now lets get into the nitty gritty
What about the non Glenelg games BAYMAN has attended as well
BAYMAN would surely hold some sort of record for seeing other SANFL games as well
Many times we have both ventured to the nuetral games
We even went to see PUNK ROOSTER in the legends game at the SA V NA game at Carlunga !!!

And I know you want more
BAYMAN goes to most AC/PP games at Footy Park as well [if they dont clash with GL games]

I would say that BAYMAN has seen about 1200 games of AFL/SANFL footy all up

Good call, I know of at least 1 weekend this year when he went to all 4 games.

BUT did he beat my record of seeing 3 games all played in the same afternoon like I did in Rd 23 after being at the 4th game the night before?
AND I have photos to prove it! :D

I seem to recall they actually televised that game (if its the pre season game i'm thinking of).

I remember reading about an elderly woman who went to every Sturt match and had seen every one of Sturt's premierships. I believe one of the junior awards at Sturt is named after her. I may still have the article buried somewhere in my collection of footy memorabilia,

Thanks, stampy, at the moment it's loading very slowly, because of the slowed speed of the internet at the moment.
