Definitely played, not sure that he was captain. I think he captained Woodville High.

1961 U/17 GF, the boy Bagshaw looks like he can play, might have a future...

Same as that young lad Blight for Woodville in 66 & 67 GFs he might go on with it....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yeah, that's why I put in the goalkickers, it adds some real interest to it I feel :) How was that Woodville team with Blight, MacVicar and Sewer, pretty useful group of players.

I was in the State Library yesterday researching something else and decided to look up some missing scores. I used mainly the Sunday Mail and Advertiser.

Good to see "The Von" Terry get amongst the goals for North Under 17's two years in a row. One of North's greatest. He was runner up in the best and fairest four times when he was at North - some bloke wearing #10 beat him on each occasion.
Also I wonder which Phillis that is for the Bays in 1963. Brian, Fred or Wayne?

The thing that interested me about Terry Von Bertouch is that he played in the 1965 U17 GF, and yet he was captain of the North Adelaide U19 premiership team in 1966. From U17s to captain of the U19s the next season, they obviously rated the Von highly as a junior. The match report said North Adelaide were receiving a "ton" of supply into their forward lines by Von Bertouch. I know Norwood rated him very highly as well. He missed over 2 seasons of league footy and then stepped into the Norwood team like he'd been playing there for years. Greg Turbill said Von Bertouch was easily the best rover he played along side of.

Both Von Bertouch and Dennis Sachse U17 in 1965, U19 in 1966, league in 1967. There was a boy from Whyalla who joined them, a pretty useful trio of recruits. Robran came from Whyalla to play for the North Adelaide 2nds in their finals of 1966 (He even wore 10 for the seconds). He played centre in the losing 2nd Semi to Port Adelaide ans was high in the best players, and in the losing PF to Norwood he was North's best, this time playing at CHF.

I would think the Phillis in Glenelg's 1963 team would have to be Dennis "Fred" Phillis. Fred began his league career in 1966 whereas Wayne didn't play league until late 1967.

I've updated the Reserves scores, now from 1952 onwards, and have used SnagIt to produce it in a more "eye friendly" way.

I'm not sure if you guys heard, but someone rang up KG and Cornesy a couple weeks ago asking whether there was anyone who had played in a premiership in all 4 grades of the SANFL. They had no idea of course, but guessed that there would be very few.

I suspect that there are none, but can anyone confirm?

The best bet would most likely come from Port given they dominated league and reserve flags in the late 50's and they also won the under 17s in 1951 and under 19s in 1953. That's a guess though.

Woodville finished bottom in each grade in 1980.

What happened to Luke Spehr who won the BOG in 04 - thought he started to play some handy footy in the A's, and could have consolidated a spot over the last year if he was still there.

Updated to include 1945 onwards.

I've wondered why until around 1962-64 odd the Colts and Senior Colts scores were so low. Shorter quarters perhaps?
